Really? I heard it had a very politically biased trend.

Now, don't get me wrong, I hate the gays and the jews (you hear RM TEX!), but I would appreciate bashing on both sides of the political fence. It, honestly, is what's bringing my appreciation of the Daily Show down, much like when Bill Maher first started "Politicly incorrect." That show was fantastic, until he decided he was bigger than the show, itself. Jon Stewart is doing the same thing. Comedy has, and always will be, about leaving your politics out of it. Or you will ostracize your audience.

Bill Maher and, to a lesser extent, Jon Stewart is doing it for the Dems.

Dennis Miller, and to a lesser extent, Trey and Matt (South Park) are doing it for the mod. conservs. (ie. those who understand what "compromise is")

And Bill O'Reilly and Rush are extreme conserv's who are doing it for the right-wing conservs.

(BTW, If you enjoy Rush, (which I DID enjoy in the early 90's,) or Michael Moore these days, you are nothing more than a mindless parrot. I've learned quite a few liberal things that I tend to agree with.

To anyone who states that they can't agree with any of the Conserv's ideal's: You are a moron.

I haven't seen a movie this funny in so long.

The wrestling scene was gross but hilarious at the same time. Some people just got up and left while the rest of the theater was just flooded in laughter. I thought the part where he's in Dallas and destroys the Secession store was funny as well.

And the scenes with the bear had me LOL'ing as well.

    Great movie.

i don't think it lives up to the hype, and that probably wasn't possible, but it was very very funny. i know there where some deleted scenes in the thread but they must have a sh!tload more for the dvd. that should be excellent.

the running of the jews and the scene in the bed and breakfast when he throws money at the jew roaches had me rolling. the wrestling too. man he sure is dedicated.

first off, the guy is an actor, he is using a fake accent and i bet he isnt even pakistan or whatever...basically its a movie talored to make fun of arab sterotypes and i think it just shows the immaturity of everyone in this thread to think that its funny when if you ask why are laughing its cause you're making fun of a pretend arab trying to blend in with americans...i think its sad this character borat(making fun of arabs using an accent) is a freaking joke and no wonder the arabs hate america !!!!!!!!!!! i wonder how the arabs on this board feel about this movie...btw, im white, but my gf is white and i guess we are the ONLY whites left in america that see through the BS of this movie and this "borat" fake character and understand it as being a racial driven racist movie...he makes fun of jews but yet jews think its funny since he supposidly is "arab"....well newsflash, HE ISNT,....ITS AN ACT...i saw him in another interview and he is as white as can be!!!!!!!!!!

You are so very smart. HIGH FIVE!

By the way, Sasha Cohen (the actor) is Jewish himself. Also, if you have watched any decent sized amount of this guys material he actually makes more fun of American culture by showing their reactions to him as a Kazakhstanian (not an Arab) and portraying the worst of both sides. He looks stupid, but he lowers the people that he is interviewing to that level as well, which not only makes him hilarious, but also makes him genious...I guess there should probably be an IQ minimum for this kind of humor - cuz it's people like you that make the Kazakhstan government worried about reactions (since you clearly don't "get the joke").

"We're concerned that the joke may be lost on somebody."

I didn't think it was a political movie at all. Like 3814 said, it was about gross out humor and making fun of American culture. And he does an excellent job of it. I could hardly breathe at times I was laughing so hard.

At least have a clue prior to posting because you sir, are talking out of your ass. Seriously, you are wrong on just about ever single point you attempt to make. Also, take a ****ing english course. That post is painful to read.

He's actually from England so we whites don't claim him as one of our own. :)
Got to give the guy props, he's engaged to Wedding Crashers Isla Fisher and she's even credited in the movie.

Overall, I thought the movie was terrific. Once again, many of the great jokes that were seen in the commercials would have been even better if not spoiled already.

I think the movie would have been better if they would have kept to the touring of the country. The Pamela angle added nothing, other than the great, horrific wrestling scenes.

I'm pretty sure Pam knew about it. I remember posting something here awhile back about her being abducted on a beach so I'm guessing it was done at least twice. I will try to find the link to that.

The guy telling Borat about gays was hilarious, yet somewhat shocking. It's amazing what people would tell Borat knowing cameras were on them the entire time.

I can't wait for the dvd because there must be a TON of footage left out. I mean, the Allen Keyes interview lasted about :30 seconds in the movie. You know he sat down a lot longer than was shown.

Here's an old article about the rodeo anthem incident:

    http://xtramsn.co.nz/news/0,,11965-4017792,00.html

Comedian Sasha Baron Cohen has escaped a near-riot at an American rodeo while filming his satirical Da Ali G Show.

According to a report in the Roanoke (Virginia) Times, a man who was introduced as Boraq Sagdiyev from Kazakhstan - in reality a Cohen character named Borat - appeared at the rodeo over the weekend after organisers agreed to have him sing the national anthem.

After telling the crowd he supported America's war on terrorism, he said, "I hope you kill every man, woman and child in Iraq, down to the lizards ... And may George W Bush drink the blood of every man, woman and child in Iraq." He then sang a garbled version of "The Star-Spangled Banner."

The Roanoke Times reported that the crowd turned "downright nasty." One observer said "If he had been out there a minute longer, I think somebody would have shot him."

Cohen and his film crew were escorted out of the Salem Civic Center and told to leave the premises.

"Had we not gotten them out of there, there would have been a riot," rodeo producer Bobby Rowe told the paper. "They loaded up the van and they screeched out of there."

It is not the first time Cohen has wooed controversy with his show, which airs on Channel 4 in the UK and on HBO in the United States. In one episode last year, Borat sang an anti-Semitic song called "Throw the Jew Down the Well" at a US country music bar, prompting protests from the US-based Anti-Defamation League.

Producers of the Ali G show, Talkback Thames, were unavailable for comment.

Something to keep in mind when the box office results are released. Borat is opening in just 837 theaters. Disney's Santa Clause 3 opens in 3,458 theatres.

He had an incident with Pamela Anderson before so I think it was.

    22 August 2005
THE DAY ALI G RUGBY-TACKLED PAM ANDERSON AT HER DOGS' WEDDING
    By Tom Reilly
ALI G star Sacha Baron Cohen has been dunked in the sea by Pam Anderson's bodyguards...after rugby-tackling the sexy actress at her dogs' wedding.

The star's creator Sacha Baron Cohen was dressed as his other creation, cringe-inducing Kazakhstani TV journalist Borat, when he pulled the stunt.

Cohen, 33, in trunks, leather jacket and Village People-style cap, emerged from the surf on an inflatable turtle. But the gate-crashing escapade seemed to go a bit too far when he sent Pammie, 38, hurtling to the sand on the beach at Malibu, California.

Security men clearly thought Cohen needed to cool it and dragged him into the sea.

But strange as the Londoner's behaviour was, it was nothing compared to Baywatch babe Pammie who was presiding over the nuptials of her golden retriever Star to chihuahua Luca.

She carried "groom" Luca to the altar with a bouquet while "bride" Star trotted along, led by a pal. Barking mad or what...

You're an idiot dude, couldn't you take 5 minutes to look up Kazakhstan on the CIA Factbook or the Wikipedia entry before you went off? They are not Arabs. You might think you are culturally sensitive, but you seem to think anybody who is Muslim is Arab. Anyways, 47% of the population there is muslim, 44% is Russian Orthodox. In the movie, Borat says he's not Muslim, he follows the Eagle.

It's not about making fun of Kazakhstan, it's about making people expose their faults.

BTW, has anybody heard anything about he frat boys in the movie? How will those guys get through the rest of their college days after what they said during their scenes?

Borat' Goes Wild at the Box Office

    Saturday, November 04, 2006

'Borat' Goes Wild — #1 on Friday Night

Forget the predictions that people somewhere wouldn't "get 'Borat'", Sacha Baron Cohen's raucous comedy.

The movie literally swamped the box office on Friday night. According to figures from showbizdata.com, "Borat" took in a whopping $8.925 million on just 800 screens, with a per screen average of $10,663.

"Santa Clause 3," starring Tim Allen, took in only $5.4 million -- yet it played on 3,458 screens.

This should put to rest all the predictions based on "tracking" that "Borat" would not be a superstar performer at the box office. The funny thing will be to see all the so-called experts who anticipated the comedy's failure suddenly taking credit for its success.

At this rate, "Borat" should take in around $30 million for the weekend. Next Friday, it expands to 2,200 screens, and then the box office will be limitless. The government of Kazakhstan will have just a few days to suddenly embrace the fun, as "Borat" could wind up grossing $200 million to become the biggest comedy of all time.
