95% positive reviews on RottenTomatoes.com. Seems a movie may finally live up the the hype I've given it. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Maybe its just me, but this genre of movies is pretty annoying. So he goes out and messes with people during their jobs or lives and tries to disrupt them. Its the same nonsense Tom Green, Jackass and others do. If someone came to my place of business and began making a disturbance or trying to embarass me i'd be pissed. It would be hilarious if people began messing with Sacha Cohen in his everyday life. Like during his premire if they had silly interviews. Or mess with him if he's going through a drive thru to get some food.
He isn't disturbing anyone. He gets their permission to interview them beforehand. The participants waive their rights for filming before Borat even sits down to interview them. I see no problem in making people look like fools, when they are attention hungry in the first place.
Let's not forget that Colbert and Stuart are also in the same camp, not to mention a million other wannabe morning DJs.
I guess you'd better stick to your "tried and true" movie-wise....like Debbie Does Dallas: The Amazon Edition!
Spoiler I don't know how much of the wrestling scene they cut out in the US, but that was just outrageously hilarious . Other than that, I laughed mostly at the scenes where the other people did not actually know what was going on. The "acting" scenes were just ok for me. Overall, despite the hype, a great movie.
ha thanks. well for the record i don't usually have a 'stache or wear my hair like that but i wanted to play the part.
GO SEE THIS MOVIE. Great movie, hilarious. The best scene is the wrestling scene. I almost died of laughter. Was the Pamela Anderson scene staged?
I have to assume the Pam Anderson scene was at least partially staged (i.e. - she and her security were in on it, everyone else was clueless). Otherwise, Cohen would still be in the slammer for assault, movie or no movie. GO SEE THIS MOVIE. Friggin' hilarious (the hotel wrestling scene gave me a headache, I was laughing so hard). For once, the funniest stuff in a comedy was NOT in the trailer.
I think I probably saw this movie too early in the afternoon. I thought it was pretty damn hilarious -- but one of the best things about movies like this are the crowd you watch it with. I saw a 3 oclock matinee and the crowd was pretty small and I was sitting next to three women that I'm not sure exactly knew what they were in for. Their vibe throughout certain parts of the movie made me a little uncomfortable, if that makes any sense. Spoiler Man, the part where he goes to the bed and breakfast ran by the two Jewish people was cringe humor at it's finest (or worst). I had to keep telling myself that Cohen is actually Jewish himself and that this was parody. I don't know if I could have handled it if he'd have actually handled it...they just seemed so kind. I guess that was part of the point Overall pretty solid movie.
One of the funniest movies ive seen in a long time. With this much hype, i thought there was no way itd live up to it, but it blew me away. Watch this with a crowd!
Just got back from the movie. Great movie seriously hillarious with a great crowd to make it even better. This is a MUST SEE !
