Losing Wesley Matthews is a bigger blow to the Jazz than Boozer simply because they have no one that can replace Matthews at the 2 spot unless they are really thinking that Hayward kid can come in and produce immediately. As much as I'd like to write them off every year, they still have Sloan and DWill.
Yeah, this is great news so far for some of the "contenders" in the West. No Amare or Boozer? I'll take it...
i see your point but lets be serious, boozer is 20-11. how many guys averaged over 20-10 last year? he is a huge loss. bigger than anyone else they couldve lost other than dwill.
Where did Wes Matthews go? Wasn't aware that he signed with anyone. Wonder what is going to happen to Okur and DWill?
The only bad thing about the possible fall of Utah, Phoenix, and maybe San Antonio is that the Lakers might have a cakewalk to Finals, unless they play us or OKC.
well I think a injury prone center has a better chance of getting his team faster to crumble as long as pop and r.c. are in s.a. the spurs should always be up there
If the Suns manage to get David Lee I think they can stay afloat. The Jazz aren't getting much worse unless Sloan croaks or retires.
I think I agreed with you on how losing Boozer would make the Jazz worse did I not? I'm just not sold on the premise that losing him is going to sink the Jazz immediately out of the playoff picture. I just think that if Okur and Kirilnko comes back relatively healthy (not even asking for 100%) and Millsap (I'm quitting on trying to spell his name right  ) starting, they're still a formidable team. Are they contenders? Most likey not. Can the Rockets beat them with a re-signed Scola and a relatively healthy Yao? No question. Phoenix losing Amare and then trying to replace him with Hakim Warrick? Now that's a recipe for lottery team, wouldn't you agree?
He's supposedly getting offers from other teams...including the Spurs if the rumormill is to be believed.
Wow so Amare and now Boozer, two all star big men gone out of the West. The Lakers path to the NBA finals just got easier
spurs could possibly make a offer for matthews who was born in san antonio after they sign splitter by the 15th and figure out if there going to resign jefferson but will prbably do a sign and trade for him if they cant resign him for a possible TE...spurs are also intersted in kyle korver but may not afford him but spurs could possibly get 2 jazz players ha
i think we're in agreement here. i just think that boozer puts them on the outside looking in. they still have a chance at the playoffs (unlike the suns) but they will have to put together a healthy year from the remaining players since their depth took a big blow. now, if they lose anyone else (matthews, korver) i'd start to believe that they really can't make the post season even with a healthy year from the starters.
This entire paragraph is off. Noah and Lee cancel each other out. Boozer can pass the ball pretty well for a big man and fits because he has a mid range game in addition to a back to the basket game which gives Rose space to penetrate. Deng is the biggest question mark on that team but he's still a consistent role player. I think they'll be fine if they sign a few shooters who can defend on the perimeter for cheap. Rasual Butler Quentin Richardson Al Harrington (probably will demand more than the MLE, doubt he'll get it) Mike Miller (4 years, $30 million type value) Matt Barnes JJ Redick Jarvis Hayes
With that cap room they can very well sign Ray Allen to a 2 year $7-$8 million dollar deal and still have about $8 million to load up their bench.
pretty much. he leaves lebron and the cavs for what? money! then he leaves utah? they would've payed him more than the bulls. i think he's leaving for a bigger market for endorsements. the guy has no loyalty.
Utah will be OK. I don't think they'll let Matthews walk, plus I like what I saw out of Fesenko enough to think the Jazz won't lose much in the paint. More minutes for a shot-blocker/rebounder like Fesenko, which Utah needs. PLUS, Kirilenko's an expiring contract so he's an attractive commodity for teams. They will probably lose Korver (Hayward's arrival makes him expendable), but that means more minutes for Miles and Matthews, and I'm sure they'll find somewhere else to find production. This is a Utah team that has missed the playoffs just twice since however long Sloan has been there. Meaning, don't count them out so easily.
