Boozer broke his promise, that is bad on his part.

But the Cavs shouldn't have tried to underpay him. I think what the Jazz is paying him is reasonable.

It's so funny! I was just looking at the Cavs' board on realgm.com, and everyone is trying to come up with ways to get cap space to retain Boozer. Every one of them is looking at the Rockets' TE. One person even suggested trading Wagner, Ollie & Battie for Pike & cash! Haha!

    They are DESPERATE!!

I have a feeling alot of GMs are thinking of ways to low-ball them for talent right now.

    Well, if

"read my lips, no tax increase",
"I have not slept with that w*",
"There is indisputable evidence S* had W*"

    then what is it?

I think we should use this chance to get rid of MoT's bad contract. How about

    TE + MoT for
    Battie + Ollie + McCoy?

Not sure if the salaries match or not. Can someone enlighten me?

    The new lineup:
    Yao/Battie
    Howard/McCoy
    JJ/Boki
    TMac/Griffin/Pike
    Lue/Ollie/Gaines

BS. The Rockets have made promises to players and kept them. That's one of the reasons we're a respected organization around the League. Using your logic, and this hasn't been mentioned yet by anyone in this thread, McGrady could just laugh at the verbal promise he had to have made to the Rockets to sign an extension, play out the season, and sign with whoever he damn well pleases.

Integrity is more than a word in the dictionary.

Sure, if Rox wants to lowball McGrady for a contract extension, he will sign with the team who can pay him the most. Of course, it is a no-issue because Rox can pay him the most with his bird right.

The problem with Cavalier is that the market changes, they still want to underpay Boozer. Paxson, the GM, does not have a clear head. He never thought the possibility that the market would change.

If it is 1, 2, 5 millions, I don't think Boozer will sign with the Jazz.

But 28 Mil, there is a problem with the Cavaliars, how can you underpay a guy so much. Say even Boozer wants to stay in Cleveland, wouldn't it be a shame to underpay him so much?

The Cavs issued a brief statement after hearing of the potential deal with Utah.

"Our actions have been based upon what Carlos told us he wanted. This was also entirely consistent with his public statements in the media July 1," said the statement from general manager Jim Paxson and owner Gordon Gund. "We are both very surprised and very disappointed by what is now being reported."

You are totally missing the point. With Bird's right on T-Mac, Rockets will be able to offer T-Mac more money than any other teams. On the other side, did Cleveland honestly believed MLE is Boozer's fair market value? Paxson tried to low-ball Boozer by only offering a MLE. Obviously he missed by $28 million!

Paxson didn't try to low ball Boozer. The full MLE was all that he could offer to Boozer. If they would have waited until next season, then the Cavs would have had the full Bird rights to Boozer.

I think Paxson is in the bottom 5% of GM's in the league. He sucks plain an simple. Any man that drafts Trajan Langdon in th lottery is on crack, along with Chris Mihm and Diop. He's an idiot plain and simple.

I don't know if you can fault him on this. It looks like they had an agreement in place to release Boozer and give him the full exception now, rather than let him play out this season at less than $1 million and give him what he wants next season. Basically, Boozer and his scumbag agents are a pair of punks. Plain and simple. That's not how you do business. The Cavs would have been just fine giving him a big pay day next season.

Hope CD tries to pry away Battie away from clevland for the 2nd round pick and TE. We would be set at pretty much all positions of need if we signed Brent Barry. If we were able to add Battie and Barry I would call this a very successful offseason. Although Battie didnt play much in clevland, giving him up would signify losing Ricky Davis for nothing since Eric Williams isnt expected to be signed back. For all we know clevland could not want to try to match the offer because of the broken promise.

I think that Boozer would have been a complete UNRESTRICED FA next year.

So, they took a chance on signing him now.

I think he still stays in Clevland and we get something in return for our TE.

I haven't missed the point at all. I was responding to this...

Businesses are built on contracts, not promises!

    They're built on both.

Cavs wanted to free up some cap space and you think we can somehow dump MoT's bad contract on them? Unless they failed to keep Boozer, in that case, we don't need to use our TE on Cavs for some trade.
