It was a typo bro. . i meant critic. i'm just annoyed at this faiweather fans. i'll bet anything after yao goes and destroys the jazz in utah on thursday, they'll all be on he's bandwagon again.
I'm glad someone mentioned this. Who the h*** is Boozer guarding? Why is he so afraid to guard Yao? He knows his fate will be just like Okur's, no legs for his jumpshots. He has a free pass with Hayes on defense. I'm not impressed. When he gets his points and guards the opposing team's best post player then that's saying something. Yao's doing the best he can guarding a power forward. Can he do better? Yes, especially on the pick and roll. But tonight he did just enough. Great team win.
the thing is boozer can shoot that shot all day over Yao...thats a tough shot. i have no problem with it
It's not Yao's fault, its the fault of our personnel. We have a post-up center playing a mid-range shooting PF. If Boozer had to guard Yao on the other end, Yao would have a similar advantage over Boozer. But, Boozer doesn't because they have a more flexible line-up with Okur being able to park on the three point line, but still having the size to play Yao in the post. Having said that, it's on Yao to make them pay for their line-up choice by torching Okur. Yao played pretty well in the first 2 and has played average in the other 3. I would bet he is pretty pi@@ed about his play and will bring it in game 6.
For the record, I think Yao played terrible this game. In fact, I think he didn't play well all series. But having said that, The Hangover is still a moron. Yao is getting pushed by 2 or 3 guys at the same time, hacking, elbowing, pushing like crazy without calls (actually that is basically true for the entire Rockets team). On the other end, I saw a play tonight in which Boozer bricked from 5 feet due to a Yao challenge, Yao's finger tip was 3 inches from Boozer's hand, picks up his third foul. The j*zz b1tched, whined, complained, fouled and had every call to their way basically the entire series and is still down 3-2. If Yao was getting the calls Boozer got, or just even fair calls, he'd be getting 40 a game and people on this board would be on his coat-tail all day long. Truly amusing.
Agree. For some of the guys only know bashing Rockets players, Yao's performance is none of your business, because you're not a real Rocket's fan. You think we can win without Yao, TMAC, Howard.... tonight?
TheHangover is a known racist, just check his first couple posts on this form. It's not even about the performance of Yao to him, it's about Yao doesn't have the same skin color as him.
Eggsactly, I had to skip to the end of this thread becuase the continueing comments about "we won the game so how was Boozer better" had me laughing out loud. That being said and that I skipped the rest, this was the first post I came to that had any merit. For crying out loud people, having more points on the board doesn't always mean you beat the other team. Yes, we won, and fine, Yao wasn't dominated...he was worked. Is this Yao's fault, not really, it's a match up problem which I think most of the educated viewers/posters are trying to get across. Big guys always have problems against smaller oponents. The smaller player knows they have to play harder, getting underneath and then backing off so the big guy loses balance. Then when the smaller guy stays right up on the big guy, and the big guy likes to bring the ball down low, it's right in the smaller guys wheel house and makes for easy pickens. Right now, if I was to pick a player of the series, I would pick Boozer. He's studied his opponent and he's come to play. He's altered his shot to have more of a rainbow than his already exagerated arch, and it is flat out destroying Yao mentally. Sloan is a great coach for a reason, and he has his guys working the double team to near perfection. Live by the three, die by the three...we hit the threes tonight, which was pissing the Jazz players off, every time they would go on a 6pt run, we would answer with two threes. Point being, Boozer is winning this matchup and if we don't make our free throws and three pointers we lose this game. Games one and two were won for those two reasons. We were hitting the threes, and getting fouls going the rack and converting the free throws, something that didn't happen in games 3-4. So for those that don't think that something needs to be adjusted to accomidate for Boozer you better watch out. Okur or the Rusky get in a groove and we are toast if all we continue to play is average ball.
1) They are just putting Yao on Boozer, single coverage! If Boozer didn't have a jumpshot he wouldn't be doing very well. He mixes up his jumpshots and drives pretty well. Yao gets single coverage as well by Okur, but as soon as he puts the ball to the floor he gets weakside help by Kirilenko or one of the guards running around. Yao is basically doubled every other time he gets the ball. 2) Yao is doing better on Boozer than you may think. Boozer shot just under 50% this game. Do you know what he averages? That's right, 56%. Utah ran their whole offense through Boozer this game, 23 attempts! He had plenty of opportunities. 3) Boozer isn't very good on the defensive end. He's on Chuck most of the time and he doesn't even do a great a job on Chuck. Who else did he guard? Juwan Howard? J-Ho went 6/6 tonight...
Valid points...I'd like to add that I think sometimes Boozer get's burned by Chuck because he's not that worried about him. Almost like it's 5 on 4.5, he know's where he is, but he isn't expecting him to get the ball and more worried about helpside D and crashing the board. IMHO
Every night? eve·ry /ˈɛvri/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[ev-ree] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation –adjective 1. being one of a group or series taken collectively; each: We go there every day. 2. all possible; the greatest possible degree of: every prospect of success. Did you watch game 1? Who has eaten alive who in that game? Be careful with your choice of word, otherwise some idiots would say you are not a true Rockets just because your english sucks.
It is you that are impossible .........you're the worst YOH on this board and that's undeniable. His offense was off as he was elbowed, pushed, pulled, shovelled throughout the game (and in fact in this series) by those physical and dirty Utah Jazz players, and being pushed out of his comfort zone, he had to take alot of shots and not making them. But he scored 20+ points anyway, and put the game away at the end with his nothing-but-money free throws. On defense, it was a mismatch for him to guard Boozer from the start, as every other posters had correctly pointed it out. But did you see how hard he tried to guard Boozer with little if none help defense from other Rockets ? Other than letting Boozer score, he played solid defense, grabbing alot rebounds in that crucial 4Q. He was what? 7 to 8 rebounds at end of 3Q. What did he end up with ? 15 rebounds.....his career high playoff rebounds. And you still picked him out to bash and diss as the worst player on the court? All I can say, no other YOHs can get as mean and pathetic as you.....
I'm all for Yao on Okur in Utah. They beat us so badly there that it's definitely worth a try. Some adjustment needs to be made. If Yao stays home on Okur, hopefully he can keep him from lighting it up. It opens up the middle but you have to give something up to keep Boozer from just killing us. Hayes has the ability to slow Boozer down somewhat. It's worth a try. Just as importantly, it would free Yao from expending so much energy on defense. It seems that Yao is playing a little discouraged and it's affecting his offensive game. I think continually get beat on defense is affecting his offense. Free Yao to do his thing on offense. Yao is definitely in an offensive rut right now. His post ups have been very ineffective. We've seen him dominant plenty of times, but now he needs a little help. He needs Tracy setting him up for easy scores. That's what happened in the 3rd quarter when Yao scored 3 straight baskets. Run the high post pick and roll all day. Set up Yao right at the basket. Then when he's feeling it you can feed him in the low post again and let him take his defender one-on-one. Take chances in Utah. They might blow us out again, but let them blow us out a different way rather than the same way over and over again. Or if it works, we close the series out in Utah. Wouldn't that be sweet?
What the hell is this a True/False test? Hmmm if the question has the words "every, always, never" the percentages say that it is not an accurate statement. Common, the point is that Boozer has not been entimadated by Yao. Rockets worked the Jazz from middle of the 3rd on in both games 1 and 2 for the most part, but Boozer went blow for blow with Yao and was the reason the Jazz were even close to being in those games.
