Exactly, Boozer doesn't worry about Chuck and rightfully so because what's the worse that could happen? 2-3 layups? Boozer doesn't expend much energy on the defensive end so he can always bring it against Yao.
AGREED. just guard okur close. im not scared of him driving around yao, especially if we get some help d.
Haha, I agree. Yao is not physically good in this series but he will come back sometime later if not too far. There is nothing more we can do right now but crossing our finger for him.
I was supprised to see JVG put Yao on Boozer again after 2 whooping loss. the rumor had it JVG doesnt know how to play zone, I m beginning to believe it. Can he learn something from popa? how he's adjusting his D against Denver? If Rox ever needs to play some zone defense, this is it.
That's not Yao's fault, because he is 7 ft 6 in and 310pd. Boozer has adjusted well since game 1. Anyway, we need to chang our defence plan.
Boozer (and any smaller player) is able to get the step on Yao if he's anywhere near the edge of the paint. Big guys don't have the horizontal speed and that is what is killing Yao in this series. He's having to work too hard to stay on Boozer and Sloan/Boozer know it. Yao could take a couple trips down the court on Okur for a breather and have Chuck run with him, but I think if you put Yao out on the arch guarding Okur, he's going to get burned over the top and trying to backpeddle to the rack when Okur goes by him. IMO JVG needs to figure out how we can get our weakside D to step up. Oh yea, and Alston and TMac could get burned on the backdoor cuts a few less times.
ROFL, I gave rofflesaurus a piece of advice. What's your problem with it? The better word to be used there is 'most'. Rofflesaurus has to be more careful with his choice of words. Why? Because an idiot is picking on other posters' english in order to make his points. I don't want rofflesaurus to be picked on just because english is not his first language.
Incredible, ridiculous hysteria. Myopia of the highest order. Take a look at the box scores from game 3 and game 4, people. Boozer had weaker performances than Yao in both. Boozer went 7/16 with 15 pts in game 4. If there's a lesson from game 4, it's that Deron Williams is a major threat. Guess what, by game 5, Deron Williams had disappeared again (4/16). By game 6, Boozer may very well disappear. This is basketball, people. This is why they play 7 game series. Tell you what, TheHangover. Put your money where your mouth is. I'll put $1000 on Yao out-scoring Boozer in game 6. We can transfer money into some escrow account held by someone dependable here... Jeff or Clutch or something. Are you going to step up?
I stand (sit) corrected...didn't get past the "Did you watch game 1? Who has eaten alive who in that game?" part in your statment.
Yao is the best defensive option for us on Boozer. Hayes would foul out by the first half and Howard wouldn't be able to keep up for a whole game either. It's a tough assignment for Yao and it's probably affecting his offensive game. But them's the breaks and he's got to fight through it for one more win.
Again, you're making the same assumption that points are relevant for this argument. If you WATCHED the game and that's key because I'm not sure that a lot of people who I'm arguing with did, it was clear that Yao was completely inactive, often just standing still on defense. On the bright side, this allowed him to grab boards because he was right under the basket at all times. However, he constantly gave Boozer and others open looks because of his immobility. Now it's not a new revelation that Yao is slow, which is a given, but something appears to be physically wrong with him(fatigue? injury?). He was completely flat footed out there and was constantly taken advantage of, nearly costing us the game. For everything that he brings us offensively, he was such a defensive liability that we would have been better off with him on the bench. And ultimately, when Van Gundy replaced Yao with Hayes, we got a stop to win the game. I really don't feel like I need to gloss over all of this again. If Yao doesn't step up on D in the next 2 games, I don't like our chances. We were very fortunate to win with the way he was playing.
Have you ever noticed that TOF's like Hangover love to hate on Yao, whereas a YOF like me love to congratulate T-Mac? There's a reason why YOF>TOF in terms of knowledge, class, and quality posts!!
why not switch with Hayes, Okur hasn't been doing anything and Yao will still give him trouble, i'd rather have them beat us with Okur outside than Battier inside. Once Battier changes his game to try and post up more we can double down on him.
I'm hating on Yao because he was our weakest link tonight. Hopefully next game there won't be anyone to hate on. For Game 4, pretty much everyone deserved some criticism.
And I'm saying that's bull$hit. There are a thousand different factors here, and Yao "stepping up on D" is one very minor one. What if Yao "steps up on D", but Deron Williams goes for 30? Or, only 4 Rockets score on offense and the bench disappears entirely? Or, Harpring goes for a double/double? In the two games that the Rockets lost, Yao "stepped up on defense" against Boozer. In two of the three games that the Rockets actually won, Boozer went nuts on offense. Seems to me Yao should be encouraging Boozer to score... it's a winning strategy.
Guy offered me a challenge so I spoke my piece, which was reiterating prior points. And don't be foolish enough to think that I would take orders from some 13,000 post carpal tunnel loser.
