I really don't know how the Jazz could possibly want to pick up a player like Boozer. They really value loyalty and morals, and Boozer and his agent have clearly evidenced an utter lack of both. What happened in the conservative state of Utah to change attitudes? Has anyone seen a poll based in Utah on whether they want Boozer or not?
How were the Jazz able to offer Boozer that much money anyway? All things go through the agent and it's usually the agent who initiates talk with clubs anyway.
Just curious Sean, but are you a Jazz fan in Houston? Or just a Jazz fan that is a glutton for punishment and comes to a Rockets BBS?
Yes, exactly. Another thing- isn't the Jazz's behavior ethically questionable when they offer this guy a big contract? On top of it, they frontloaded it to make it even harder for Cleveland to match!
Yeah, I'm evil...no soul..... Jazz fan in SLC. I like to talk hoops, and it's always fun talking with non-Jazz fans once in a while.
Well since you are from SLC, I will forgive you for your unfortunate choice in a Basketball team. Since you are not able to help it. Good luck with Boozer though, be careful he doesn't betray your team the way he did his last one.
Eh, price to pay for winning. If he wins, Utah will make him happy. He has a better chance at winning here in SLC than in Cleveland, even if he's next to James.
I'm sorry man but I disagree with that 100%. The Cavs, if they had kept the LeBron/McKinnis/Boozer/Z team together, could have been top 4 in the east soon, but now that he's in the West, which as a unit is probably stronger than ever, there's no way he's gonna be even top 5 or even top 6. The Cavs had SOOOO much potential for the future it was amazing, and he threw all that away for more money.
It's competition. You put money out on the table and see if it's enough to get a guy to throw out his integrity. The Jazz didn't promise anything; I understand where they're coming from. Boozer on the other hand is pretty despicable.
Funny how all the LDS members in SLC preach ethics but will cheer a slimeball who practices lies and betrayal. Something bad will likely happen to Boozer if he ultimately plays for the Jazz next season. Maybe he will blow a knee or something. What comes around goes around.
Boozer should do whatever is best for himself. Not for Clevland, not for Utah...for himself. If he is happier with 28 million more in Utah...all this will subside in a years time.... People will forget, and he will have 28 million more. Paxson made a mistake, they knew he could leave..... DD
When it's all said and done it really all comes down to money. Which team pays the most for Boozer's service gets the nod.
Well I am sure the Utah media is spinning it that he came to Utah because he thought he would have a better chance at winning, but I just don't buy it. They had a great young nucleus in Cleveland, but its obvious he wanted a big payday, and Utah was happy to oblige him. I don't blame the Jazz for going after him, it was a smart move. But he sold out the fans in Cleveland and his teammates. He will probably do well in Utah though. Sloan's sytem should be good for a player like him. If he can live up to the fans expectations of such a huge contract, and the fact that outside of Utah he will probably be booed.
Chilly Pete, Why would he be booed anywhere other than Clevland? No one else will care.....he did what Kobe, Stephen Jackson, etc...etc...etc... did... He took the best offer. Clevland should have NEVER let him out from under their contract. They could have offered him a one year deal and retained his bird rights, but they tried to lock him up to a value deal at 40 million. PFs that are 15 and 11 guys in the 2nd year are worth FAR more than that. Boozer made a savvy move, do you think Clevland cares when it trades a player ? Why should the player care? Boozer is doing what he thinks is best, and for 28 million more...I can totally understand. DD
I have to disagree here. It is not as simple as his taking more money. He is not doing what Kobe and other FA's are doing. He asked his boss, in good faith, to release him from a contract so that he may sign a new longterm contract beneficial for both parties. Would the agent be resigning if it was no big deal? It was a serious punk move and one that will ALWAYS be remembered.
I feel bad for all involved.. since Gund had Boozers word and let him out of his contract. But Boozer has to worry about his life and his career. There is no guarantee if Boozer goes back to Cleveland for a 1 year contract that he wont get injured or the market will be as hot next year. 28 million is alot of money and I dont know how many people could turn that away.
