This was such sh-t. They amped up the gore and subtracted all the humor of the original. Maybe one funny moment in the entire thing. It was basically Saw with demons. The originals and Cabin In The Woods were far superior.
I think you were looking for a parody horror movie. I've seen all three Evil Deads. The first one tried to be scary. The Evil Dead 2 was a semi-remake and meant to be silly. And Army of Darkness, well, obviously, wasn't serious. I haven't seen this one, but if you were expecting humor, you really misjudged the trailers.
And while I'm on the subject of The Evil Dead, has anyone seen Evil Dead the Musical? I've always wanted to watch it. They had a production of it in Houston last October but I wasn't able to make it, and apparently, there will be one in San Antonio this coming October. I hope to see it.
Absolutely nothing special about this film. I love the original and I was actually excited when I first saw the trailer for this one. It didn't suck, but it was a pretty forgettable movie. Other than the final scene, nothing stands out. It wasn't fun or entertaining.
Word. Kind of a disrespect to call it the Evil Dead, if it would have been called, A boy who forgave his sister in the woods then it be ok but hey, if it makes money at least we will be seeing more horror movies coming out but is it going in the right direction? We'll soon find out.
The worst part is they are already writing Evil Dead 2 and 3. And from the rumors I've heard, the 3rd one will actually be called Army of Darkness 2.... So... I'm not sure how to feel about that.
Just saw it in theaters with friends last night. Stayed after the credits too for the secret vid! (dont waste your time on that one.) Overall it was a decent movie, very gruesome. A lot of wtf are you doing? STOP! moments than, OMG IM SCARED! moments (0). It's different though
Saw it Friday. Just over-the-top blood and gore, which I normally would have appreciated (I mean I even watched the entire SAW series). The special effects/make-up and the sound work were impressive, but there was nothing especially creative about the story or the dialogue - just rehashing tired old tropes without even trying interesting variations. Half-way through I was just waiting for the movie to end.
I thought the movie was intentionally hilarious. Thought it was very much in keeping with the original just with upgraded gore.
