I'm a huge Longhorn fan, but this is getting to be ridiculous.

It's gotten past the point of just a few bad apples. It appears that we've got a bunch of thugs on the team that Mack is trying to keep in check, but you can't baby sit these guys 24 hours a day.

It's one thing with the weed and DWI's but when there are a few years now that reports of assault and robbery keep coming up, that's in another league of criminality that needs to be purged.

I'm sure that with the unlimited resources that the University has they will try and get this thug culture under control, but man it's looking bad for the present.

While I could care less about weed or MIP type infractions, zero tolerance to unprovoked violence off the field.

But I'll add I watch them to play football and Mack isn't a baby sitter. I''ll criticize Brown on his play calling and his coaches schemes, but not hold him responsible for his individual player's behavior off the field. Universities are not responsible for their students' criminal behavior.

how do you look at a DWI as if it's nothing? That could have potentially been manslaughter had he had an accident.

Mack Brown is a good guy he understands there is a big problem right now and he will fix it. People in Austin won't tolerate this much longer -- Mack feels the heat no doubt.

It's not nothing, if you drive drunk (and not just football players) you deserve to get punished. And what this guy, unbelievable. I don't want UT to turn into Miami U

    exactly.

A lot of leadership amongst the players left with Vince. They realized the problem (a while ago) and are correcting it. I doubt there will be many more of these coming. This seemed like a surprise to them and was related to the earlier incident, so its not really new.

I'm less worried about this now and am more worried about how good this team actually is and I don't think it is as good as we thought

They should kick Henry to the curb forever...that kind of stuff is WAY worse than some pot or a DWI....that is premeditated violence.

    Later Henry !!

Where's the "Saint" now? Long gone...

    St. Vincent, that is...

And I hate to say it but OU looks like they may crush UT on Oct. 6th.

May? They will. I'm just wondering what the point spread will be. If it's anything less than four touchdowns, bet OU and give the points.

I'm hoping that OU's freshman QB gets some big time jitters for this game and turns the ball over a few times

No, because there are non-fair-haired white people. Try not to get so spooked, he's just calling a spade a spade. Criminal student-athletes really is a tar baby of an issue.

    Too funny!

    http://ramblingraiders.blogspot.com/2007/09/ut-football-recruiting-champions.html

    UT Football: Recruiting Champions

Like most big-time college football programs, UT's season doesn't end after the final whistle blows on bowl season. From that moment on, Mack Brown's busy pressing palms with every blue-chipper across the state. Mack searches high and low for the best possible recruits, and isn't afraid to venture places other coaches might shy away from.

Having such a broad recruiting base does have its drawbacks, though. While other coaches might spend most of their time trying to convince stubborn parents to allow their kids to attend UT, Mack is busy trying to convince stubborn jurors to allow their kids to go to UT. Bet he wishes HE had a law degree from Pepperdine!

Mack does have some good selling points other universities don't. For instance, you'll never fly commercial to a game. Nothing but a private charter will do for the richest state's flagship university!
