It’s easy to forget that when he was with AD he was the equal player. They both scored about the same. Cousins rebounded and passed better. AD was the more dominant defender of course. cousins was putting up 25/13 with 5 assists shooting 37%+ from three. that’s insanely good. I don’t expect that but even 75% of that is amazing. I also think Wood can be an all star. the media isn’t on board. bit the upside to this team is by far the most talent ever around Harden. That upside happens if Cousins and Wall are healthy. I wouldn’t expect either to make the all star team but to be “close”. Because of health and trajectory Wood should be there too. so that’s Harden plus 3 all star esque players plus PJ, EG then rest of bench. The bench is kind of weak past EG and House. this is the most excited I’ve been about a Rockets season in as long as I can remember. And that includes the first CP3 year because I actually didn’t think that would work. It did work so I was wrong but I’ve also maintained the perfect pairing next to Harden is more of a PG type playing at an all star level not another guard because most guards are ball dominant definittionally. given they can both hit from the outside and both can somewhat create on their own... Wood and Cousins are similar to that mold. Maybe even better. I mean a starting lineup of Wall Harden PJ Wood Cousins Is loads better than what they were doing in the playoffs. the question is health.
Below are Cousins stats in 16 games against Anthony Davis. These numbers are probably as solid as anyone in the league. As a reminder, they were teammates in New Orleans, so he knows Davis's game as well. Stats in Games Between Them Points Reb. Assists Steals Blocks DeMarcus Cousins 25.8 12.8 4.1 1.6 1.6 Anthony Davis 21.9 8.9 1.8 1.3 2.1 Even if Cousins slips a little and only collects a career-low 8 to 9 boards a game, the Rockets are still a much-improved rebounding team. I'm predicting that Houston will be the better team on the glass in the upcoming season, night in and night out. How long has it been since we could say that? The Yao Ming era? Earlier than that? Cousins also involves others. His passing is exceptional. This narrative of Cousins as 75% of what he was pre-injury seems premature. Let's see what he can do.
John Wall, Boogie Cousins Are ‘Playing To Win’ And Prove Something With The Houston Rockets https://www.forbes.com/sites/adamza...and-prove-something-with-the-houston-rockets/
I’m just hoping he and Woods can give Harden a dominant frontline, similar to when Kobe lucked into one. More of a prayer I guess.
The more film I watch of Cousins, his skill level and BBIQ are off the charts, I think he'll be fine regardless. If he's even 70% of this (and he looks great and thin btw) his all around skills are outstanding. Check out the video, anything you can want from a center. Passing, postgame, defense, rebounding, puts the ball on the floor, three point shooting. Just focus on longevity goals, wear any knee braces or ankle support, and load manage minutes, just have him fresh for the playoffs.
Between usually includes the endpoints. LOL Do you just enjoy displaying your obtuseness for all to see, or are you just trying to see how deep you can dig this hole for yourself?
If that is how you interpret Soukop's tweet then you are friggin hopeless. Rockets have a height problem, only 4 players taller than 6'7. And 2 cannot seriously be relied on due to load management (return from serious injury) and the other is a 2 way player. Are you going to argue this too?
Imagine being the first seed half way through the season and The Rockets then ask Harden "you still want out ?"........................would be a nice thing
Thanks for that. I knew Cousins could ball but I was never really aware of how good he is driving to the basket. His handle and passing are legit. He attacks close-outs like a wing just in super-slow motion but he's never out of control. I think Harden will mess well with him as a playmaking big a la Josh Smith, Motijunas, and and Jeff Green before. The offense could be crazy good next year.
I think Boogie is more athletic than you realize but you are right, he is extremely skilled for a big.
