I was puzzled at the time that you picked me to add to your signature ...but it is becoming increasingly clear that you should question your own Rafer hate.

    Do we want better? Yes.
Can we win WITH Rafer? Yes.

Rafer is who he is. The only reason I don't dispise Rafer is because I'm keeping him in perspective that we got Rafer in exchange for Reece Gains (by way of Mike James). So keeping that in perspective, the Rockets came out on top.

We should ALWAYS look to improve. But don't shoot yourself in the foot over the promise of somebody that looks better on paper (assuming said person is even available to be had). For THIS team, I beleive that Rafer will be fine. Fact is, the results (scoreboard) supports me ...not you. ;)

So do yourself a favor, and update your signature. Because at this stage, it makes you look petty. The Rockets are 1 game out of the 3rd seed and all you got to complain about is Rafer FG%.

In case anybody is wondering, the Rockets are 1 game behind the spurs with Rafer Alston as our PG. :) ...thereby his reference to me in his signature is pointless.

Carry on with the Bonzi thread now. ;)

From the link I just posted a few minutes ago it states:

"Rockets guard/forward Bonzi Wells missed Tuesday's game with a bruised lower back, but Rockets athletic trainer Keith Jones said Wells could return in time to play the Mavericks in Dallas on Friday.

Wells landed hard on his back when he brushed against Minnesota's Craig Smith and lost his balance on a drive Monday against the Timberwolves.

"We'll just keep giving him treatment and see how he feels," Jones said. "He's doing a lot better than he was this morning. He was really stiff and sore when he woke up this morning. We treated him, put him in the pool, and he's doing a lot better.

"I don't think it's anything, but we're going to get an MRI just to make sure, because he had a back problem before. But he's moving pretty good."

Jones described Wells' chances to play Friday as "50-50."

"If he keeps improving like he did from last night and this morning to where he is this afternoon," Jones said, "then, yeah, I'd think he'd be all right by Friday."

As long as we get Bonzi healthy and in shape for the playoffs we'll be fine. I think he'll be back soon though, and will pick up where he left off in terms of production. I hope we can keep Bonzi for a couple of years, he's just the kind of 6th man we need if we are gonna compete for the next 5 years.

And the Rafer hate needs to stop. Every player we have can't be a super star, former all-star, or olympian. Players like Rafer are just part of any team, and the fact is is that Rafer fits this Rockets team. He can run this team better than anyone else on our roster; even if his fg% is terrible. Rafer is better than Jason Williams and I'd rather have Rafer than say... Mike James. So even if Rafer isn't the greatest, he's what we have and he's adequate and fills a necessary role on our championship caliber team.

Because seriously... look at our roster. We have some great players... not every player can be the man. We have two superstars (a top 5 swingman and the best center), a defensive specialist and team USA member (Battier), two former all-stars in Deke and Juwan, an all-pro talent in Bonzi, a clutch 3 point shooter named Luther Head, some promising, athletic young guys, and a handful of wise vets to tie it all together. For the first time in years I feel comfortable with our starters AND our bench. If that roster isn't a championship competitor then nothing is. If we can get another solid PF/C big man, and a capable PG who can run our offense behind Rafer we'll be completely set.

Yeah so why bother even playing, we should forfeit and just have them go back to houston and wait for the Bobcats....

Even if Bonzi doesn't play the Rockets will win the game. The last time the Rockets were up by 13 until T-Mac had back issues again. This time they finish the job.

yo i agree with everything you said, but what athletic guys do we have on the bench besides snyder? we've got a bunch of midgets (lucas and vspan) and a shooter who can't shoot (novak). i do think this team is pretty solid and better than any we've had in years, but we should also be on the lookout for upgrades whenever possible. we're not the only team in the nba with talent.

I agree with what you are saying, however, Rafer's shooting percentage is a reasonable complaint considering the amazing amount of shots he puts up. He should realize he is not a good shooter and only shoot when the offense dictates a shot because he is wide open. I don't mind those shots at all, but the ones early in the shot clock when he forces an ugly half scoop up near the rim or clanks an outside shot are the ones he should learn to forego. Then I'd totally agree with you. Just cut his number of shots in half and I wouldn't have a complaint.
