If Bonzi plays tomorrow it will be a great thing....and it also shows that he doesn't want to lose his spot in the rotation. DD
According to the Chronicle, Bonzi flew to Memphis with the team (and by implication apparently plans to play tomorrow, although I'm guessing he'll be a game time decision).
Bonzi really had some bad luck recently. First lost a big load of money, then came to Houston only for a cold war with the coach, finally got over that page, injuries after injuries. Man, I feel bad for him, hope his life gets better and he kills Spurs again in the playoffs, and this time, baby, with Houston .
That's exactly what I said last night when I heard he was hurt, Roxfan... the guy can't catch a break. Maybe he's getting all the bad mojo out now.. so that he can have a killer last two months of the season
alot of that bad luck was self-inflicted. and if conditioning contributed in any way to his injuries all of it could have been self-inflicted
The rockets are going to need his rebounding big time against the likes of Josh Howard, Jerry Stackhouse and Devin George. Also he's capable of getting some of those guys into foul trouble.
Is it just me or does anything think he could have broken his fall by putting his arm down? Sure, he's risking an injury to the hand or wrist, but just seems less risky than coming down that hard onto your spine. I guess that extra fat cushioned his fall, I hope he'll be okay for next game.
Here is what many of you will think is the dumbest idea in the world but I swear it would cut down on injuries: Make NBA players take a few weeks of Judo or jujitsu. I enrolled in a jujitsu class and the first thing they taught you how to do is fall. I ended up quitting the class after 3 months but I can't count how many times I have tripped, fallen or whatever and landed "correctly" and probably saved myself a broken bone, a busted head or at least a sprain.
You know......... I really like your idea. I think if I was coaching, I would investigate this further and maybe enroll in a class myself to see what goes on. And if it helped, I'd send the whole team through the class. It just makes a lot of sense. If I was a Judo or jujitsu teacher, I'd be banging the door of NBA and NFL teams for sure.
