We are 4-7 when Bonzi plays. We are 15-5 without him. We need someone who can be a difference maker at the guard spot, that can help us win games. But I don't think anybody we could get by trading Bonzi fits that description.
http://blogs.chron.com/franblinebury/2007/01/difference_maker_and_a_differe.html Blinebury says Bonzi will visit John Patterson in Waco for his back problem. Can you imagine if this works again? To see the Orlando T-Mac paired up with the Sacramento Bonzi that hammered the Spurs? And then when Yao comes back? Awesome. Honestly, this deserves it's own thread. I'm a rookie, so somebody else do this!
You should probably change that to when tmac is out and with tmac. Obviously he doesn't make as much as an impact as tmac, If healthy bonzi would make a significant contribution to his team.
Agree, most people don't realize when Bonzi is healthy and in shape he is the only player on the rockets team outside of Yao and T-Mac that requires a double team. In my eyes Bonzi is a hired gun for the playoffs and thats where he will make a big impact for the rockets.
it seems like Bonzi's injury is pretty bad January 3 http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Notes_Rockets_welcome_back_fa-203089-34.html "When you have back problems, it hurts every aspect of your game," Wells said. "I understand what (Tracy McGrady) and all those guys have been going through. People don't really understand the extent of how much your back has to do with your body. I'm just glad my back is getting treated." McGrady, who has dealt with his own back spasms, could sympathize with Wells. "(People) don't really understand if they've never had a bad back," McGrady said. "You can deal with having tendonitis in your knee and you can play with a sprained ankle, but you can't do anything with a bad back. What he is going through is more severe than mine because he's having pain in his legs. I don't even know how he's feeling, but I can relate to him."
Everyone needs to stop being so harsh on Bonzi. Yes he has totally failed here in Houston, but lets face it, he isnt costing us much other then a roster spot. The rox will pay more to Bob Sura this year then Bonzi. Like we all said when he signed, it is possibly big reward but very little risk. We can say all we want about his problems and his attitude, but I cant imagine Bonzi wants things the way they are cuz there is no big contract waiting for him next year unless he can get healthy and back to the way he played last year. As long as the Rox can stay afloat where they are right now, how Bonzi plays is irrelevant. We can with without him, especially when Yao and Tmac are back together on the floor again. As long as we are no worse then the 6 seed, things will be fine. It looks like Dal and Pho are going to be 1 and 2, so if we go 4-6 we match up against either the Jazz, Spurs, or Lakers and I like our chances against either of those if we can get healthy by playoff time. Yes bonzi is out for another two weeks and needs to get going at some point. But if he can have a decent last 30 games of the season, we could go into the playoffs as beasts. If he disappears this year we are still fine with what we have.
