I love reading that from Feigan. Nice to see an opinion from the guy, rather than a column aimed at the general audience. Thanks for the post.
It clearly looks like they should have moved him before the trade deadline. I was so excited about the Rockets getting him, but, he has been a total waste of space. The Rockets can't seem to get a real break through on personnel: injuries and bad decisions seem to haunt this team. It is real frustrating. I thought VSpan would be a real asset. JVG won't play him. I thought Synder would really help. He gets hurt, then gets no minutes. Bonzi is a bust. TMac gets hurt, is out. He comes back, Yao gets hurt. Rafer's can't even see the basket. I guess we should all be thankful that Yao is back, even though TMac's knees are now acting up and that the Rockets have as good of a record as they do. I sure would like to "roll" into the playoffs instead of "limping" into the post season.
this is where we get our roll on, lets make it two in a row. I admit the biggest thing Bonzi could have done was provide another player in a trade, yet we wouldnt have gotten a legit 4 or a PG which is our biggest hole, Even using Sura's contact i dont think we could have gotten a solid rotation guy. With or without Bonzi we are going to roll into the playoffs, even if he played well this was just a 1 year rental and it failed. we have a backup in Snyder.
I think Bonzi and the coach had another confrontation..which is why he isn't back from his foot injury yet.
The teams know how Bonzi can play during the regular season, but I believe Bonzi has done this long enough to know that any enhancement in his next contract is going to relate to how he plays in the playoffs, which is the same thing most of us are saying in the BBS. So, better for us to know that we will get his best come playoff time becasue the best incentive for him is .. the money.
Bonzi hasn't worked out here yet. There's one month left for him to prove his worth. Snyder's in the doghouse now, so it's not like Bonzi doesn't have the opportunity. I'm doubtful that he'll have an impact for us. He's bad defensively and doesn't have the range needed to play next to Yao.
Does anyone have an update on Bonzi's injury? Sore foot? He's been out for a while now. Could there be more to this injury?
This is starting to worry me. By now, I was hoping that we'd have a happy, healthy Bonzi who is well integrated into the offensive scheme and ready for the playoff push, or atleast a Bonze who was moving towards that direction. IMO, our playoff chances and the play of our second unit drop significantly without him. I hope he gets back to consistent minutes in the next few weeks.
Bonzi just makes me very very disappointed. I guess its not injury problems,it d goes to attitudinal aspect.
Wells has a contract to play for next year. He will probably be back on the court in a week and have a stellar playoff run. Then he can try to get the money back he lost by being a bonehead last year. This guy is a knucklehead. We fasn have held and continue to hold hope that this guy will justify signing him even at a bargain price. So far he can't even do that.
Non-stop championship? Nah, that wont happen. But Bonzi can certainly help in playoff. Now, there are more teams playing outside-in: the Suns, the Mavs, the Spurs (Yes, the Spurs. They are perimeter oriented this year after they traded away their traditional big centre in the off-season and in last playoff when they benched both its centres). One way to reduce the efficiency of their guards' plays are post them up early, beat them up physically in the offensive end, make them play defense, wear them down, so they wont be so effective at the closing moment of the games. So, Bonzi can be a valuable asset if the Rockets can post him up often against these teams. Last year, the Suns dumped games to avoid facing the Kings because they had problems dealing with the Kings during regular season. The Kings posted up Artest and Bonzi and had bigs shoot from the perimeter. The Spurs also had problems dealing with the Kings last season for the same reason. However, the way Bonzi playing seems Bonzi still not in a rhythm. Just hope Bonzi returns early and has more games under his belt before playoff. He's vital to the Rockets playoff success. Bonzi is a playoff performer. I wont count on Head, Hayes, Snyder or Battier.
