If we can get Bonzi back to form by playoff time who knows what he can do... Last year w/ Sac. he can to play hopfully this year he will tooo
i like snyder's athleticism more than what Bonzi brings....snylder can play some offense and much better defense (thats what we need)...bonzi is worse than Novak at playing Man defense...
JVG doesn't appear to be too happy with Snyder's defense, actually. Apparently, he's making a lot of mistakes (missing rotations and assignments). I can't imagine Bonzi is better in this regard, but maybe the coach thinks so.
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/4614871.html Wells update Guard Bonzi Wells, who has missed the past four games with a sore right foot, has begun running and could test his rehabilitation today or Saturday. "He'll practice with us whenever we practice," Rockets trainer Keith Jones said. "He ran with no pain, but he just did straight ahead running, not cutting. We'll see how he reacts. The next time we practice, maybe shootaround, we'll do more basketball things."
It's pretty obvious when he plays. His pick and roll and help defense could use improvement, his technique needs work.
I take that back, I checked the roxs website and they had not updated that article yet. *note to self, check chron first, roxs website second.
I'm sure in the playoffs Bonzi will play through these injuries. He could still be the difference maker come playoff time. Maybe since he's had such an awful year we can get him on the cheap again next season.
Well, one thing is for sure - he's not going to be getting any 36-million-dollar offers in the off-season. Someone will still probably overpay him, but he is going to go down as one of the all-time losers, contract-wise. Dude probably cost himself more than 20 million dollars when it's all said and done. His best hope may indeed be for him to pull his fat head out of his fat butt, straighten up and play next season for the
(sorry, dunno how THAT happened) Rox, ALL season, and play well and unselfishly, and be a model citizen to boot. THEN he may get one last decent payday. Sad part of it all is, he's actually a very good basketball player, he has some devastating post moves, and he can finish. If he was right in the head, he could be 'the missing piece' for a half-dozen different teams (including us).
When the season first began, people thought that Bonzi wasn't playing because JVG didn't want to play him. I don't think he can be injured this much to keep him from playing. I think he is faking it.
I, too, feel that it's not his foot that's keeping him off the floor. I betcha there's bad chemistry again.
Man, forget Bonzi...he is a one year rental, and he has not been healthy all year. If you can't count on him, then go with players you can count on.
I am sure Bonzi will play on Sunday. It seems players must first go through a full practice before JVG allows them to play.
