You have it all wrong . . . Bonzi Wells is the kind of employee with incredible talent who only does three actual hours of work per day but gets accomplished what it would take another normal employee eight hours to do. Bonzi has talent not work ethic. JVG is a work ethic knid of guy. The Houston Rockets need talent not work ethic. If the NBA was about work ethic, Ryan Bowen would drop forty a night . . .
Play Bonzi . . . Stop the Collapses!

"Frankly if this was in the real world JVG would get sued for discrimination."

Dude, you couldn't be more wrong if you tried.

If this were the real world, Bonzi Wells would be out on his ass unemployed instead of making 2 million bucks guaranteed for being an out of shape crybaby. Van Gundy is only discriminating if he's prejudiced against fat over paid athletes who don't want to do their job.

No, Hank it had it all right.

And I don't know which universe you live and watch basketball but in ours, Bonzi Wells is a good player with bad conditioning who is not a position to contribute (see Rockets @ New Orleans)

I don't understand. Regardless of how much talent the guy has, why would you want someone on the court who won't work for his team. I absolutely think Gundy is right. He expects no less from Bonzi than he does the rest of his team. Is he asking for Bonzi to be Tmac? No, but he is asking for Bonzi to but in as much effort as his superstars.

I have no idea where the logic comes in that you play someone that won't work hard for you. If he's not going to do it in practice or conditioning why would he do it on the court?

I dont know why y'all are supporting JVG on this one.. we got Bonzi to the rockets to PLAY, not to design a workout plan for him and give him weight loss tips..

JVG is a dumb a$$, Bonzi should play, we are getting killed out there ...

all that "deepness" in the bench we were talking about in the preseason, it's all gone because our r****d is trying to be a smart a$$ and do a little "8 man rotation"... how about Novak, Vspan, Bonzi ??? dont they deserve to play... no no, put it like this: Novak, Vspan, Bonzi, wouldn't they help the team PREVENT break downs in the 3rd... I wanted to see Vspan getting Gordon.. I wanted to see him get a couple steals.. I wanted to see Novak hit 3 threes in a row and put the game away, I wanted to see Bonzi posting up when Yao is resting and create some plays for the rockets...

but no, we are blaming Bonzi.. "oh, he is not a typical good citizen" ..wtf ?? who needs another sissy on the team?? we already had enough that we got rid of one named Ryan Bowen.. we still have plenty more, under the leadership of mr. good guy Juwan Howard... we need a tuff player, a garry Payton, a JKidd, a Rasheed Wallace.. a guy who can get the team fired...

bottom line: put Bonzi in, or get your a$$ fired JVG..

i don't know the entire story. i don't think anyone on the clutch bbs does. maybe Bonzi is really so out of shape that his net contributions are negative. so they should have just been straight with from the start. none of this, maybe you'll start and maybe you won't. instead, it should have been you're going to have to weigh less than say 250 lbs before you step one foot on the court. as for being a cancer or destroying team chemistry, i think people are just projecting. no one, not even JVG, has even said anything of that nature to the press.

    i'd like to suggest:

    bonzi and juwon

    for

    etan thomas. http://aol.nba.com/playerfile/etan_thomas/index.html

etan could backup at the 4/5 and provide defense/rebounding/energy a la hayes. he would be a great replacement to deke when he retires this summer.

howard for thomas is bad contract for bad contract. bonzi gets sent to the east. the wiz definitely do that deal to get bonzi at a bargain basement price. they have a lineup of: arenas, butler, bonzi, jamison, haywood. that's a good team.

I agree. So far from what I've seen of snyder, I haven't been too impressed. He's played ok in spurts, but nothing outstanding. Bonzi would make better use of those minutes and give us a greater chance of winning. I thought we were in the win now mode?

The reason Charles Barkley never won a ring is because of...

    Michael Jordan
    Hakeem Olajuwon

Don't act like Charles wasn't a winner. He just got beat by better players.

We NEED a guy like Bonzi on this team because he plays with passion and animated emotion. Guys like that don't let their teams get lulled into a slumber while the opponent goes on 32-5 runs to steal victories on their own home court.

How do you know what exactly happened behind the scene? What if Bonzi actually did not care at all to even be in shape (losing weight), go to the practice, learning the system?

We all tend to give the benefit of the doubt to either the coach or the player. If you have to put the benefit of the doubt, who will you give... JVG or Bonzi?

Many a season Hakeem used to arrive out of shape and the coach would let him play in all the games so that he could get into shape. It took about a dozen games for Hakeem to round into top form.

I can't understand how anyone can take Bonzi's side on this.

Van Gundy demands all his players to be in good shape. We heard this all offseason. If he gives Bonzi Wells a pass -- how are the rest of the players going to take that? And screw Bonzi and his "It's just basketball" attitude. If Van Gundy gives in to that chump, he'll lose a ton of credibility in the locker room with the rest of the players and he'll give Bonzi a green light to act up whenever he wants the rest of the way.

He was in shape with the Kings.

He weighed 210 (according to him) to start last season, 30 lbs lighter than his Memphis weight.

    He SUCKED in Memphis.

He started his Rockets career at 268 lbs.

    ****** SUCKS!

Hey, "dumb a$$", what kind of "r****d" Post is this? This sounds to me like you're the "sissy".

But, you're right, "we are getting killed out there" with just 6 wins out of 9 games.
