Yes, Bonzi, not wanting to train w/ the team will make your stock go waaaay up. And by 'up' I mean to hell. I joked about it before, but he really is following in the steps of TO in more ways than one. Just don't pass out in your apartment from choking on cheeseburgers.

LOL. The first player that comes to mind is Barkley. There is NO WAY in hell that Barkley would of played on a JVG team.

So, if Fat Bouncey Whales gets to play and sucks (like he did when JVG gave him some minutes earlier), will people be blaming JVG for playing him?

Bonzi Wells is a slug. This guy will NEVER play for the Rockets. He's as good as done before he ever got started and I'm glad JVG is taking a hard line with him.

If you let someone like Bonzi get away with that sort of thing, what kind of signal does that send to everyone else on your team? The guy makes his living with his body and then doesn't even bother to take care of it enough so that he can make millions of dollars playing a game?

Those of you who have jobs...think about it. If you are a professional, and there is one thing about you that makes you valuable to your employer, and you stop taking care of that one thing, what do you think is going to happen?

Screw Bonzi. Freaking loser. He's another Scottie Pippen but with less talent as far as I am concerned.

Bonzi Wells is ThugLife in the NBA.
Bonzi Wells is not a model citizen.
Bonzi Wells is not a conformist.
Bonzi Wells can play basketball in the NBA.
Bonzi Wells can score a lot of points.

Right now, Bonzi Wells at 60% is better everyone on the team outside of TMac, Yao and Battier. But if we can trade him for Baron Davis, I'm down.

Lets not be surprised with Bonzi's personality- we did not get him here because he was a model citizen.

This whole thing about "not in shape" is really a pissing contest between a stubborn coach and a nut case star.

Bonzi can play- let us not have any doubt about that. There will be nights we will be blowing leads- and I prefer a Bonzi on the floor- fat, out of shape etc etc.

Was JVG not the guy who won a game last year- when we were jockeying for a better spot in the lottery? What are we doing now- losing games we could perhaps win! Frankly if this was in the real world JVG would get sued for discrimination.

Wonder what JVG would have done with Clyde Drexler!!!!!!!!!

    Great coach- lousy motivator!

I am fully behind Van Gundy on this one. JVG could make Bonzi a lot of dough if Bonzi would listen to him. If Bonzi get into shape he could be very dominant. I don't think it's too much to ask an athlete that makes over $2 milion a year to bouce bball to be in shape. In fact, it's disgusting that's he's not in shape. With all the ways to stay fit and all the science behind fitness these days. So, he doesn't want to get injured until he gets a contract. That doesn't mean you gotta pig out on tater chips and ice cream. Just eat right man. What else you gotta do?

Anyways, can't figure out what Bonzi is thinking. He signed the deal here. He knew what JVG was all about before he got here. You wanna make a big payday? You gotta bring it. What does he hope to accomplish by screwing off half the season? There simply aren't that many teams with money to give him anyways and there is going to be a good deal of talent on the market next year.

He's acting like a dude on drugs, not rational. If he thinks that he can come in for half a season and get a big contract, he's nuts. The only teams that are gonna give up big money for somebody like that are stupid. So, you know they ain't gonna win. Who in their right mind would give this guy a big money deal??? You can see the handwriting on the wall. As soon as he gets it, he'll be eating a half-gallon of Blue Bell every day.

Frankly, there is no way no matter what he does the rest of this season that I would want to risk the MLE on him. Every years he gets heavier and probably next season he will blow out a knee and be wasted dollars for the next 5 years.

Dude is acting like he is on drugs, irrational.

there's nothing wrong with expecting professionalism, but the damage was already done before Bonzi even signed the contract. the same signing that everyone was so excited about. a physical is taken before the contract is final. you can't magically remove 30 lbs. of fat from a skilled player. i guess his worth and expected contributions on the court this year is less than the rookies VSpan and Novak. the logic is just unbelievable.

Only problem is, show me any time Sweetney has done anything in this league? Bonzi can play and isn't as fat as sweetney. Free Bonzi!

JVG could be right about Wells.

But people are losing confidence in coach if the team keeps playing games like tonight.

So they want to see whether Wells is really that bad or not.

I can't wait til Wells gets on the court and starts ballin'! Or is Will with insight and there will be no Bonzi in sight for this team?

source? hope it's not Aldridge. there's a world of difference between training and attending a preseason road game in street clothes.

My take: JVG knows Bonzi used BS reasons for skipping the entire training camp, so he's going to keep Bonzi on the bench until the season's about a month old. After that, he'll get whatever PT he earns. By the time the playoffs roll around, he'll either be a starter or sixth man.

In other words, nothing to see here. Just JVG showing everyone who's boss.

I can't believe so many people are pointing the finger at JVG for this.

We saw Bonzi for a couple of limited appearances and he was obviously not in shape. Van Gundy isn't just sitting him because of a personal thing against him ... it's obvious Bonzi is only using us to get a fat contract that he didn't get this year because he and his agent were greedy.

This isn't all about his attitude, it's about his work ethic. We don't need a guy disrupting chemistry and then bolting next summer. I was hoping this would work out and it would become like the Rasheed Wallace situation in Detroit, where a guy that thinks he is a star takes somewhat of a backseat but pushes the team over the top. It's obvious Bonzi doesn't care about the team or winning.

Sure you should not expect the same. You should just start playing him 10 min and go from there.
When he is in shape, then you expect him to start playing 25-30 min.

JVG is just too stuborn and while he is our coach we are not going anywhere. He just can not use the players he has because he is blocked in his mind with the ideal player (Rybo) in his mind.
