****, I wish Bouncy would just keep it real and say he's here for a chance to get a big paycheck next year.

What are we, six year olds?

Y'all make it sound like Novak doesn't play one lick of defense. Actually according to the beloved JVG, Novak's one-on-one defense is actually better than he expected. It's Novak's team defense that he needs to work on.

    IIRC, it was

his one-on-one defence > his team defence

both of which sucked...but one was better the other

Maybe all these guys defending Bouncy Whales can, I dont know, buy him a bigMac or 2 dozen .... since he's making soooo little money. Maybe you can stroke his hair and tell him "it'll be alright, and not to worry bout that big ol bad coach Van Gundy" Geez, I can remember when this was a sport for MEN who played cause they LOVED THE GAME, and were willing to do whatever they had to (lose weight, conditioning, defense) to have the opportunity to play.... "playahs" like Bouncy are an insult to the legends that made (and those that continue to make) this a great sport!

The only reason why he 'left the money on the table' was cause the greedy %*$#%^& thought he could get more elsewhere - and he was wrong - shows ya the intelligence level we're dealin with.

Yeah, like lean dedicated legends that made it to training camp in shape as opposed to using training camp to get in shape(NOT!!) like the Great Sir Charles Barkley..."The Round Mound of Rebound," 2 time olympic dream team winner '92/'96, named mvp in '93 and named one of the 50 greatest players in league history in '96 and 10 years later, inducted into the basketball hall of fame.

You don't have to be perfectly fit to make a lasting, recognized mark on the game.

The fact is, as you choose to ignore my comment by including more chatter on your part...........my statement blows holes all over your argument. If he were greedy, its a bird in hand..........

My comment is fact: A championship is not guaranteed, the money he left on the table was!!! Deal with it.

Since when is Bonzi Wells anything close to Charles Barkley? Barkley might have been able to play well even with extra weight, this is NOT the case with Bonzi Wells.

Wells is an above average player when in shape, a very mediocre one when not in shape. He has talent, but not enough talent to play well when fat. It's proven with years of evidence.

Fat is Fat. Bonzi can play fat and play himself into shape(along with off-the court exercise). Plus, I was blowing holes through his argument that all these great players from the past were dedicated to fitness and getting in shape...blah blah blah...Barkley was more concerned with "whats for dinner," than his speed up the court!!!

So I was not comparing the 2, just providing evidence to refute his comment:

If you think Bouncy Whales is in the same league (talking figuatively - no pun intended) as Barkley ...then I dont know what to tell ya.
PS: Barkley looked really fat in those days with 76ers (NOT)... it was only AFTER he had honed his craft and garnered the respect that he 'took some liberties'. THATs the prob... these young guns think after 2 or 3 seasons (or in Bouncy's case - i good week) that they are elevated to the level of a Barkley, and unfortunately, ignorant fans feed that ill conceived notion.

Additionally, I was refering to Bouncy's whole crybaby pisspoor attitude about his conditioning.

Honestly, I don't care what Wells say to the media as long as he is actually putting in the hours on the bike and watching his diet.

I wiithhold judgment until the he either returns or gets shipped out. He was seriously fat, and it's gonna take some time for him to be back to his regular playing weight.

Charles Barkley is a terrible case for anything for the simple reason he was a freak of nature. He was always too short and too fat but he was still among the greats of that period. There has never been a player like Charles and there likely never will be again Still, some would argue that had he have been in better shape he might have been as good at defensive as he was offensive. Had that been the case, he would have had a much greater impact on the game. He might even be wearing a ring or two that are instead to be found in his buddy MJ's jewelry box.

Bonzi, however, has always been an average player with extraordinary talent.
The playoff series against the Spurs was a prime example of what he's capable of, but put those numbers up against his regular season averages and his career averages - you'll see that he's always been fine with falling far short of his potential so long as the paychecks are still coming.

If Bonzi ever had anywhere near Barkley's production or impact on the game, then I'd be glad to say "Good point!" to your attempt to "blow holes in his argument", but even when Bonzi is fit he's still generally put up minimal effort and is satsified with being a mediocre player who occasionally shows flashes of how good he can be. If he's content to be an average player with extraordinary talent when he's in shape, then what good is a fat Bonzi?

p.s. I just went through every page of this thread hoping somebody would have photoshopped a picture of Bonzi to look like the Hamburgler. I am sadly disappointed to see no one has.

Yeah no s***.. I hate it when people downplay athletes' "donations" and other things out of goodwill as it should be expected or it's a publicity stunt. They're humans just like the rest of us so don't expect them to do things you wouldn't do.
