we all saw bonzi play when he was fat. it wasn't pretty. if he's still in that shape why on earth would you be mad at jvg for not playing him?

it's on bonzi to be at a respectable weight and if he wants to play and show himself for a bigger contract he'll get it done.

The Rockets should hire Yao's trainer to work with Bonzi. Yao is in great shape.

Well, if you are responsible for signing players and there is this Bouncey Whales out there, could be possibly had with less than half of his market value, are you going to take a shot? You know he is out of shape, you know he is a knuckle head, you know everything, but he has the talent and is hitting rock bottom on salary, would you take the risk?

It is hardly anyone's fault to bring Bonzi here, the risk/reward is just that you cannot miss it. He is in a DAMN CONTRACT YEAR, wishing to make much more $$$ after this season. It is common sense to think that he will behave like a model citizen as long as he has something that resembles a brain. And if he is behaving like that, he could possibly push us over the top. Well, it turns out that all he has in his fat head is fat. But what did we lose? Less than 3 million $ for a fat azs riding a bike in game time, and that's it. But although very unlikely, if he somehow get his fat head out of his rear end, then he could be the one piece that we are missing. The risk is so low and the potential reward is so high that not a single GM out there would hesitate for a second.

Jeff should try to communicate w Bonzi Well, he is a good player whom the Rox has got him at a very "discounted" price, so try to be a little bit "nice" to him, all the Rox fan are expecteh Bonzi, steve Novak, V-Span to have some playing times, hope Jeff can understand that

Before he signed, the team and Van Gundy made it clear what they expected from him. Wells himself said Van Gundy gave him the straight dope on the team and him with no sugarcoating. He decided to sign here, and now the Rockets are merely doing what they told him they would do.

I'm sure Wells wants in the game bad. Every player, from rec league to NBA, want in the game. But he has to earn his minutes, like they told he would before he signed.

It's up to him to make a decision whether he wants in or wants out. Pretty simple.

The thing is, if he's out of shape which he is, he might pull a groin or hammy which would dog him for the entire yr. He does need to get in better shape if you ask me.

hell yeah I would sign him, but I would get him on MY side and work things out with him..and that's where my whole argument came from: he was a bargain, u took the opportunity and signed him, but u knew he was a knucklehead, 3 millions is not for free.. that's still MONEY.. if u are ready to pay 3 million for a fata$$, u should be responsible for the results..

    bottom line: JVG messed up..

Yao's trainer is Anthony Falsone. He was the Rockets trainer for a long time but they fired him for kicking someone's a**. He's probably too tough for the fatboy.

Yes do you want JVG to breast feed him too while he's at it? Coming here he knew how the coach was. Did he seriously expect JVG to just hand him PT on a platter next to his 5 other plates of lasagna? Boo hoo you miss Rudy T; you probably didn't even follow the rockets during rudys tenure.

I'm using that as an example to disprove your statement. Fact is that the ratio of pictures of him at the club and him at the gym isn't good.

NOt really. If you ask the people around here that know a thing or two about nba economics you'd know that he's not going to get those "big bucks" you were talking about. And if you want to bet on your "prediction", that's fine by me. tipjar bet? put your money where your mouth is.

If you try and focus alittle more, maybe watch alittle more games, you'll realize battier can't play the 4 night in, night out. There's a reason chuck hayes is starting. THere's a reason why juwan howard, before chuck went down, who didn't play over 14minutes in any one game, is starting.

    ... ...................... . .

And you say the JVG signed him. Link?
Even if it was jvg that wanted to pick him up first, do you think he did so under the impression that bonzi would stay fat? I think not. He couldn't even dunk on a breakaway. Seriously. He posted up on people, and put up shots nowhere near the rim. He's out of shape.

SCREW BONZI WELLS! Who does this jerkwad think he is, one good playoff series and he thinks he's Charles Barkley? Hey Bonzi, get the fat chick off yer lap and get in the freakin gym! An earlier quote said he should be played because he is 'a playah' ....no thanks, we need hardworking players not 'playahs'. What message does it send to the Shane Battiers on the team if you let someone who obviously has no desire to excel take up minutes. At this point Id rather see RYBO, than another spoiled millionaire with a 'tude.

Why is this thread still going at the pace it's going?

It's quite obvious now that other than RocketsMac, who just simply doesn't get the simple idea of management, understand the situation like mature people would.

Mods should lock this please. There is nothing left to discuss. We have all established what kind of person Bonzi really is.

Nope...not like running a marathon at all. Marathon is long and slow. Basketball is quick and intense. Big guys maybe run 3 miles during a game. Smaller players run 4-5 miles in a game. But they sprint it in segments.

    FYI
