Preseason is NOT meaningless when you're brand new to a team and you have to not only gain chemistry and repoire with the other players, but also just straight up learn the system. You accuse everyone of blindly hating Bonzi, but you're doing the same thing with JVG. I still don't understand how you could possibly think that a guy who doesn't even have the professionalism and work ethic to get himself in shape DURING the season would HELP us in our championship push. What about all the guys that DO work hard and put forth the necessary effort to be on the team? We're 12-5, with the best defense in the league, and Bonzi had NOTHING to do with it. And guess what else.....JVG has EVERYTHING to do with it. As much as we all love Rudy T, it was obvious that his system wasn't gonna get it done against the elite teams. JVG comes in, establishes his system, and we're competitive from year 1. How much more will it take for you to understand that JVG is GREAT for this team? Defense wins championships.....last year, the Mavs couldn't stop the Heat when they needed to, that's why they lost (also, the refs were in Wade's pocket, but he understood that, and that's why he kept driving to the bucket....it still comes down to defense). Take off your HATE JVG cap for 2 seconds, and take a look at the Rockets' record with JVG, when he's had BOTH TMAC AND YAO healthy.....it's pretty damn good.

I predict that the trade market for out of shape, serial malcontent, problem child swingmen is this:

....which mirrors the trade market for underachieving, girlfriend shooting PFs who can't defend or shoot, or selfish washed up swingmen who think they're still playing for Rick Pitino..

When the benefits of this market is realized, I predict a giant BBS mutiny about how JVG ruined Bonzi's trade value and how all these wonderful deals were out there for the taking..and how we got "NOTHING" for him (of course, we paid nothing for him, and got nothing from him....so....) Of course they don't exist but that didn't stop anyone before.

It is meaningless. The raptors brought in way more new guys, than us and went almost undefeated in the preseason. Then they started the year 2-8. Teams don't field their best lineups or try their best in preseason. It's just warmup to get some game action in.

So far Bonzi has turned out to be the lil' b**** alot of people like me said he could be. I wonder how many of you who praised this pick up are now convinced that in a team sport, talent is not the most important thing always.
I read player analysis everyday on this site and now i get scared because of the pleas for players like Bonzi and Swift and Gay and now DAVID LEE. Decent player but all of these guys are all potential.
    Swift- potential talented high flyer
    Gay- potential superstar
    Bonzi-potential......cancer?
David Lee-potential starter in this league

TIME to go after a real deal!

....which is why it's a huge problem when an asshat like Wells decides to use the regular season as his personal warm up period because he's too cool to play in preseason, as he is contractually obligated to do.

It's like bonzi killed some of your guys dog or something. So much hate for someone who could put us over the top.

David Lee is legit. It's not potential. He's proven he's a very good player.

No offense. Your 2nd world war knowledge needs a little update too.

I agree that he WOULD have put us over the top, if he was the Bonzi Wells the Kings got in the playoffs last year. I think the assumption was that since this again was going to be a contract year for him, he would play with some motivation and fire. However, I really feel like in his mind, he never INTENDED to play for us in 2006. Once the All-Star Game rolled around, he would suit up and play about 2 great months of basketball, roll with us into the playoffs, and put on a show. But, he didn't take into account that JVG doesn't operate like that, CD doesn't operate like that, and the Rockets don't operate like that. And you know what, I'm damn proud that we don't. Unless your name is Roger Clemens, you don't have the right to think you're bigger than the team, and even then, it's seriously pushing it....if we don't make the World Series the year before, there's no way Drayton allows Clemens to do that. That's what I think rubbed JVG the wrong way....it's not that he necessarily came to camp out of shape, I mean, JVG even gave him PT the first couple of games, but I really think it was his work ethic and attitude OFF the court that pissed JVG off. If Bonzi had shown even the slightest bit of motivation, and gotten himself back into game shape, I really think JVG would have inserted him back into the rotation.

Good thing Bonzi didn't cost a 1st rounder - but I have a feeling it's going to cost a 1st rounder + Bonzi for someone who can help us. Otherwise, I see him on the indefinite team suspension list for the remainder of the season. Like someone said earlier, the only teams that will deal for him is someone with an old team who thinks that he will give them that extra to get them into the playoffs. I can't see where young team, bad team or good team would want him.

And please...I'm not a JVG fan, but this is not his fault. Bonzi is worse than I imagined and I had a very low bar set for him.

Legit for one month? I think he would be good on this team, but with Bonzi leaving, JHo still on everyones constant s<>T list, and other pieces to dangle (sura, head, hayes) I would rather put some money together for a piece to rely on for years....my choice....Rashard.

Would you rather have Lee or Lewis?

I think if we are trading for Lee, lets give them Padgett and that's about it, they are not going to take Bonzi IMO.

Am I correct that the only evidence we have of this rumor is a post on another fan message board? Or am I missing something?

NO its so much hate for a basketball player not willing to DO HIS JOB. If you perform at your job in the same manner bonzi has with the rockets you would have easily been fired by now. Fans deserve two things from the players: effort and professionalism Bonzi has not shown either at all when he came into camp.

I will give him credit for losing the weight over the past two months. Right now my greatest rage is all the work he put in to lose weight on the rockets' dime and clock will go to help another team when he is traded

Really depressing to see this. He looked great in that recent picture, I was hoping that was a positive sign (by him working hard to get in shape). He really could have helped us out -- just look at our bench...

I hope the details about what made this unmanageable are eventually let out...
