we may not have to go east. here are some deals i think will help both teams:

    howard, bonzi = kwame
    bonzi = cook
    howard, bonzi = madsen, james
    sura, bonzi = fortson
    bonzi = collison
    sura, bonzi = etan thomas
    sura, bonzi = joe smith

my mindset was to find a F or C for this team. deke is too slow to play sometimes, and howard is sometimes a big liability on defense. a F/C who can rebound or defend would be a huge asset for us.

i'm not sure bonzi has enough value to bring in a legitimate 3rd scorer, but we can still add a really nice piece.

Yea I kno, it would suck for me too, he's a real nice guy, I asked him about the phx game, he was real determined to come back stronger next time, I think our best option is just sit and wait, the team is fine as is and the worse case scenario is Bonzi sits on his a** and gets paid for nothing while we continue to win, Best case would be if Bonzi sat but around spring realized what he's missing out on and come in strong. Either way, the Rockets take a chance trading or not trading (and Bonzi plays) cuz ur tampering with the chemistry.........Bonzi is like Pippen without the CB4 paycut.

    Houston Trade Breakdown

    Outgoing
    Juwan Howard
    6-9 PF from Michigan
    11.8 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.4 apg in 31.7 minutes
    Bonzi Wells
    6-5 SG from Ball State
    13.6 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 2.8 apg in 32.4 minutes

    Incoming
    Jamal Crawford
    6-5 SG from Michigan
    14.3 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 3.8 apg in 32.3 minutes
Change in team outlook: -11.1 ppg, -11.3 rpg, and -0.4 apg.

    New York Trade Breakdown

    Outgoing
    Jamal Crawford
    6-5 SG from Michigan
    14.3 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 3.8 apg in 32.3 minutes

    Incoming
    Juwan Howard
    6-9 PF from Michigan
    11.8 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.4 apg in 31.7 minutes
    Bonzi Wells
    6-5 SG from Ball State
    13.6 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 2.8 apg in 32.4 minutes
Change in team outlook: +11.1 ppg, +11.3 rpg, and +0.4 apg.

    Successful Scenario
Due to Houston and New York being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston and New York had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

I take this to mean ... "I only have negatives to say about Bonzi which in turn could damage his stock... the less I say, the more likely we can turn lemons into lemonade once Bonzi becomes tradable".

I realize New Orleans is in our division, but what about:

Bonzi Wells, Juwan Howard, Bobby Sura
    for
    Desmond Mason, Marc Jackson

Jackson can do as much as Juwan Howard can do in about 12 minutes a game and can play both post positions. Desmond Mason gives us everything we ask for from Bonzi minus the attitude.

Bonzi gives New Orleans a more reliable scorer next to CP3, Peja, David West and Chandler. Juwan Howard brings some veteran presense to an otherwise inexperience team.

Salary situations are comparable. Very lateral move for teams that share a division.

It's a salary ditch and Q.Rich is injury prone. Of course, we could offer to take Crawford instead. That would be fine too. If they want to dump Jerome James, they are going to have to give up something. :D

No trade is a salary ditch when you include cap albatross Juwan Howard. His contract is only one year shorter than James, w/the same $$$.

Not going to happen.... Mason went to OK State and the Hornets are still playing in OK.

As much as people want bonzi gone he WILL help us if healthy, is everyone forgetting what he did to the Spurs last year. Hopefully the rockets will make it work with him

I totally agree. with Bonzi we had another player that could get his own shot against good teams, especially the Spurs. The way Bowen and Manu couldn't guard him really excited me about finally beating them. Plus, Bonzi's a good offensive rebounder which is especially helpfull when we go through those scoring droughts.Other than Yao and TMac we don't have anyone who can get his own shot vs the Spurs. Well, if we trade Bonzi I hope we can get someone who can be that 3rd scoring option.

Who can we get this guy to? There are a few GMs crazy enough to trade something of value for Bonzi, but what coach is stupid enough to think he can reach Bonzi and make him play hard? Plus this has to be a team headed to the post season. There are only 2 teams that would seemingly want Wells: NYK and Miami.

We probably can't get a player back from NYK because they like their youngsters and all the other guys have bloated contracts, so try to get as many 1st round picks as possible, no matter how late they come. I'd settle for Miami's 2007 1st rounder.

If that is the primary reason for discarding the trade proposal, the Hornets/Mason's priorities need to be re-adjusted.

Wasn't it QRich that said he figured out that all you had to do is pressure McGrady to get him to play poorly? No thanks.. No more Knicks

And the rest of the deal is wipes off a bunch more salary. This deal saves NY approximately $34 million in salary, not to mention lux tax savings. It is the Rox that would have a hard time swallowing the deal, not the Knicks. The Knicks are in mediocrity. Q.Rich isn't their future. Their best defender on what? A nothing team going nowheres in the near future. Best defender doesn't mean anything in mediocrity. All it means is trade value. They'd do the deal quickly. Jerome James is a bigger albatross than Juwan's.

Real sad. Bonzi would have helped the rockets win a championship. Feel sorry for Bonzi since he got a raw deal here cause of jvg. :(

Do you think that if Bonzi really worked hard JVG wouldn't have played him? I think he is a waste of roster space. The guy had a prime opportunity to come in here, contribute, and put his attitude aside to be part of something special. He obviously didn't think so and from my standpoint I say let him rot.

There is nothing sad about this. The guy made his own bed of garbage, let him wallow in it.

I can just see the bigger picture, which is bonzi is needed for this team to compete for a championship. JVG just took that away. :(
