release out of what? Bonzi just doesn't want to play here he does not like the roll JVG wants him to play....he knows that he can do more, but acts like a insecure kid.... he def has problem, he might need to see a psychiatrist, 38 mil is hard to forgive yourself...
Maybe he should have saved some of that lost money and gotten some exercise at the same time by opting out of getting a cart.
I never wanted h9im to begin with, because he has been a loser headcase his whole career (not to mention he carries the taint of the JailBlazers). I couldn't believe how excited people here were based on one playoff series (its like no one has heard of Austin Croshere). I hope the Rockets can move him for something, that some other team can be suckered the way most of the people on this board were, but I don't have high hopes. I wish the Rockets would just stop with the headcases.
Our options are limited. He has a player's option next season. The trade deadline was Feb 22. If he opts to sign with us for another year we cold make a deal next year....... If we waive him his contract money counts against the cap - though his contract is relatively small
What will you do with him?? The trade deadline was over in February. It is his option for next season....We do not have many options. I was one of those excited to sign him. A real talent at a bargain- I am sorry it did not work. Who would have thought the guy would not make a serious effort in a contract-showcase year..... I do not think you can blame a GM if someone becomes a head case- a la Eddie Griffin, Ron Artest, Vernon Maxwell, J.R. Rider (Insert name of many Portland players)or Desmond Mason. We either keep him and hope he opts to re-sign with us so we can trade him-or we waive him It's a shame because the man can play when he is in shape....
Fixed it for you. Also, if the Rockets RELEASE Wells, he could still excercise his player option for next year, and still sign a new contract elsewhere which would allow him to double dip. Hmmmm....interesting strategery ! DD
Interesting. Bonzi will still get paid if he opts to sign next year. Why cut-waive him unless we need the roster spot early next season?
I would ask him not to take his option for next season (or take it, whichever means we don't have to pay him). If he chooses to stay with the team, I would look to trade him for whatever we could get in the offseason. For the rest of this year, I would just leave him inactive and tell him not to bother traveling with the team. I think you can blame the GM if someone is already a head case and you sign them anyway. People knew Griffin had problems before he was drafted. Artest was a head case in Chicago but he has still found a home on two more teams (and had problems on both of them). GMs always seem to think that, sure the guy was a headcase in (insert city here), but on our team, he will be a model citizen and a productive player. That rarely is the case.
why Jimmy Jackson? http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/stats?statsId=832 he's been with 12 Teams in his career
He was traded and did not report to the Hornets, he had some issues with the team and JVG I believe at the time. DD
I agree it is rare that a leopard changes it's spots - talent is rare and a GM will take a chance -see J.R. Rider. Vernon Maxwell was signed by teams after the Rockets. I do not think anyone knew how bad a problem Eddie Griffin had-Minnesota signed him after us. I recall him getting in a locker room fight a Seton hall. I had never heard about alchoholism, depression, or drug use at the time. I was thrilled when we made the trade with New Jersey to get that pick and Eddie Griffin. We needed a big man very badly at the time. It is unfortunate- Bonzi could have and should have played for a big contract. He will miss out on a lot of money.
He is a notorious locker room lawyer. And we all get it that you have a love affair with Nachbar, but did you really just cite Gerald Fitch as another ruined acquisition? Really? Can we bring up Alton Ford and Maciej Lampe too?
I don't remember Jimmy having issues with JVG. He was starting and playing lots of minutes. He just didn't fit on this team after McGrady got here because we needed a defensive shooting guard, and Jimmy couldn't play that role, although he tried. I remember before we traded Jimmy, he had a great game against the clippers.
Man, you've really become a caricature of yourself. Oh well. Enjoy your lifelong stay in Inconsequential Poster Land.
