bone have never been mainstream and always been a niche so its dumb to say they need to rework there image and become more pop and suburb friendly they were platinum back in da day but it dont mean they were mainstream music, they never were
Bizzy Bone, very underrated rapper on his solo work. Of course if you can understand what he's saying. He's beyond Lil Wayne crazy (not sayings thats a good or bad thing....) Bone Thugs won the American Music Award for favorite rap group just last year. Doesnt seem like it but "I Tried" with Akon and "Lil Love" with Mariah Carey are credited as BTNH songs. Those were very succesful songs. (Optimistic observation) They havent had their full lineup in quite a while now. Just having everyone back might can get them to 1/4 of what they did ten years ago, which would still be pretty good. Getting Bizzy actually gains them some credibility cuz he's made his own name for himself on the "underground". Also they're one of tne known acts that were big in the "Biggie & Pac" era, the era people like to look fondly back on. Some good marketing of them getting everyone back, along with guest appearances method like they've done in their recent work, and I say they can get reach 2x platinum. Not that you cared though... Spoiler
Agreed, their core work isn't mainstream. But they've always done some clever guest spots with people like Mariah Carey and such to help them along. When they tried the whole Mo' Thugs Family thing eh...wouldnt say it was mainstream, but kinda more "mass appeal'"? Example: (Who says BTNH isn't versatile? ) <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/EVm7Smq-T0c&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/EVm7Smq-T0c&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Evidently i don't understand what mainstream is. Unless we're talking Nelly type ish, every rapper does alot of 'underground' mixtapes to entertain their core audience. Going platinum nowadays is more of a marketing feat than a sign of a well respected artist. So, Bone is probably pretty high on most fans' list of great rappers. Also, i'm sure that they don't need to change much about themselves to sell albums. Their sound was not specific to the 90's, they were always different and that makes them capable of making a comeback at anytime. Its a shame half of the variety/creativity of rap is in one group called CRS (Pharell, Lupe, and Kanye). I would love to see Bone bring something different to the game right now.
What makes you think that is still Bone? Anyways, their image shouldn't have anything to do with their music. They could come up wearing hillbilly overalls for all I care. These guys still have talent and as mentioned earlier, even had a couple hits this past year or two.
I really enjoyed Bone's last group album. It was one of the best that they have put out in a looooong time. The only thing that was missing was Bizzy...
I really hope they get it going together. Because the majority of the Bone solo albums sucked ass. Bizzy Bone's and Layzie Bone's more than the rest. Bizzy Bone's voice works well within the group but hearing a full hour of his horrible horrible voice is a recipe for a killer headache. Layzie was just that.. lazy..his solos were boring. Flesh was solid for the most part and Krayzie always seemed to outshine the rest. His solos were pretty good. But where oh where is Wish's solo. He was the 2nd best behind Krayzie and he was always the least talked about in the group. I never heard a solo from the guy though.
