This isn't a statement of support for terrorism. I think we should be clear on the distinction. A terrorist might have legitimate reasons for being angry. Saying you understand those reasons doesn't mean you support the terrorist. That should be a general principle, regardless of whether you happen to agree that those reasons are legitimate.
