I wish their was an option for both

I am a huge Phelps Fan.. But what Bolt has done is incredible..( for various reasons)

both are once in a generation athlete

The funny thing was Gay runnin an incredible 9.71, 3rd fastest ever and no one gave a F or realized it because of Bolt's 9.58.

On a sidenote, of all the things that I have seen accomplished in the Olympics, the one I haven't seen is an athlete competing in different sports. Not sure if that's ever happened, but if someone were to compete in say, swimming and track, and were to win golds, forget Phelps and Bolt, that would be absolutely amazing.

I put this spreadsheet together to compare the two's achievements in International competition since 2002. As you can see it's pretty close but Phelps is more consistent.

Michael Phelps has won 70 medals since 2002 with 80% of them Gold.
Usain Bolt has won 22 medals with 73% of them Gold and that's assuming he wins Gold for the remaining two events he has during this Olympics.

I think Phelps has the edge because he's been doing it in more events and also has the higher percentage.
