I was wondering how Boki would compare with say Tom Chambers?

Abdul-Rauf (Chris Jackson) had the best shot that I have seen in terms of catch and shoot. The guy made shots that had no business going in, he would shoot off picks without even attempting to square up to the basket. Reggie has made a lot more, but he does square his shoulders and shoot off the pick (actually everybody does/should)

imo the winner is so far ahead of the pack, it's not even funny. i'll never forget the first time i saw him play in person. it was against the university of texas and they were playing at the summit. dude had been in somewhat of a shooting slump for the past few games. well, the story is that calvin murphy had a little talk with him before the game, and it made all the difference.

that evening, he poured in - i believe - 54 points versus UT. and the WIDE majority of them were jumpers with men running after him. it didn't matter. he was absolute money.

    square the shoulders? what's that?
see the basket? don't have to.

the most amazing release i have ever seen:

    mahmoud abdul-rauf (then chris jackson).

i really haven't followed Boki much...but he seems more like a Wally Sczerbiak that a Lamar Odom from what i've heard.

probably would have been = to Odom and Wilcox for rights to Yao/#1 pick.

I'd love to have LO, but -- does he really not work hard to rehab? Is he really immature? But, what a talent...and maybe an MCE next season? Who is his agent? Falk? Fegan?

speaking of abdul-rauf, where the heck is he? he ain't on the grizzlies' roster no more. has he gone back to Turkey? aren't we looking for a backup SG?

being an unpatriotic muslim is like the worst possible thing you can be right now in america, but at age 33, he's still got a couple of years left in the tank doesn't he?

    *sigh*

Verse: You can't include someone who is not a pure shooter with a high percentage. Hell, I shot turnaround Js!!! at the elbow with only very slight rim recognition, and NOT squared up. I single handedly won games doing that with the other team throwing taller and taller people at me. Catch, twist, fire!!!

Sorry man, Rauf throwing up prayers is not in the same league, not even close. You have to draw the line at consistency. In Bird and Reggie's best games and at crucial clutch moments, they absolutely freaking blew away anything you can ever remember Rauf doing. Rice off the dribble was ungodly.

Bird in the zone was freaking ridiculous. You're just telling stories.

Keep L.Odom well away from our young players. We have enough bad example of our own to deal with! Lets not add a player thats going to cause more problems!

Comparisons suck. I remember Minor being called Baby Jordan. Yeah that worked out well.

You never know how good this guy can be. I think that Boki has all the physical skills needed to excel in the NBA...I could be wrong though.

Allen is an unbelievable athlete. He can jump out of the gym. I think he was in a dunk contest.

Quickest release...by a mile...I have ever seen, and I've seen all the releases mentioned here is...DELL CURRY! How could you forget the guy?!!? He's unlike anyone else in this one catagory.

Bird, Miller, and Ellis were great shooters with great range and go release speed. C. Jackson had an exceptional release, as did Mullin, Pierce, Michael Adams, and Hornacek...but by far the quickest release belongs to Curry...it's his game alone.

Just have to add an opinion on the quickest-release question..

The guy who had the fastest, smoothest, most quick release on
a jump shot was Ro Blackman. The Mavs seldom used him as a
spot-up shooter, so the majority of his shots came as he was
flashing past one pick after another to free him up for his shot,
so not only did he have to be quick with his release, he also had
to be able to be running full speed, catch the bullet pass (and
stop on a dime at the same time), square up, and shoot a perfect
form shot that usually barely even hit net.. and as I remember it,
this was always as quick as lightning.

Man I miss the old days of the mid 80's .. the NBA was just such
a thrill back then.. maybe that's why I am feeling so giddy over
the upcoming Rockets season.. it looks like we are actually maybe
going to have a really good TEAM again, instead of just having a
bunch of really talented individuals all playing on the same floor.

    my $0.02

    Ciao

actually, i was trying to cover up for not being able to visualize Chris Jackson.

slowest release...I was thinking about posting that.

How about Matt Bullard with the dart-thrower lean like he's sizing up a free throw. For such a tall shooter, he had to be like 8 feet open to have enough time to load and fire.

    LOL!!!

i trying to but cannot recall any guards with notoriously slow releases (due to hitches or just plain old bad form). can you think of any?

This is ann odd choice because he was such a great scorer, but A. Dantley's shot always used to wierd me me out with that extra elbow swerve that went with his j. But I don't remember him ever having trouble getting off a shot.

slowest release: Tracy "Ground Sloth" Murray

Jamaal Wilkes had a pretty slow release too.
