Lol people have already responded to that plenty of time. Luther only got playing time due to injuries and JVG that last year as well. Chuck hayes was cut by JVG last year!...or do you guys like to conveniently like to forget that fact and was only brought back late in the year cause we were running out of bodies to dress.
Yeah, this is the same point I tried to make earlies. It wasn't just JVG, Rudy played him significantly LESS than JVG, the Hornets didn't play him much (and when they did, they got mediocre results), and New Jersey ONLY started playing him this year after they lost Richard Jefferson. And despite his new found playing time, his stats are still rather mediocre...he's had a good run of 15 games or so, but I'm sorry 15 - 20 good games after 5 years in the leauge hardly shows me what a bad coach JVG was or that we made a terrible mistake trading him. He just wants to put down Van Gundy, but never has any facts to back up anything he says.
Hasn't Boki had 4 different coaches? The other 3 coaches are: Rudy Tomjanovich Byron Scott Lawrence Frank Each year he has averaged less than 9 pts/game. Different player, Same old theme of "Coach sucks, That player is great now!" We got the same threads with Stromile, when he went off for a season high. We got the same threads with Azubuike. Now, We get the same threads with Nachbar. All these threads created in the same season. Then, these players fade away the next game and go back to their career average.
Wesley gets praise here. I do not get it. He could not guard anybody. Boki gets criticsm for no D. Please , Please enlighten me- we gave away Boki. Rudy liked Boki because he could run, shoot, slash to basket, and is a matchup problem with his 6' 9" height. Like V-Span he needed a little time. Wesley sucked wind after a short time here. That one magical '04-05 season-with JB and Bobby Sura-that was fun. The Boki giva-a-way and the trade of Mo Taylor for Mooch and Vin Baker-I will never really understand. You cannot sell that. It made no sense then and is ridiculous now.
Yeah- Ryan Bowen, Padgett, Rod Strickland, Mark Jackson, Charlie Ward-great attitude, ability, and skills....So consistent
Agreed - he should still be here. Vindictive lil man got his way and got rid of him. Where are you now David Wesley?????? Ohh Yeah -I saw you warming the wood in the Cleveland game. Thank you David Wesley -for part of a season.... Boki is an active -viable player now.
So he thinks career .8 assists a game with career high 1.2 a game is passing, I guess Michael Redd and John Lucas are passers, too. Nachbar's averages this year are just marginally better than his 2005 season with the Hornets. He's only come on the scene since this past January of 2007 so I wouldnt say he's totally arrived yet. The main difference is his confidence to shoot and more assertive demeanor on the floor, which leads to more consistency. If he can keep up what he's done the past couple months the rest of the season, that'll say what he's really about.
Boki still has upside. He can improve....When he was in the package for Wesley-David W's best days were behind him....
I don't hold that belief too much, but if we go off pure numbers for Nachbar's "breakout" year this season, 2007: 19.2 mins/3.2 rb/0.8 asst /8.6 pts compared to his numbers with the Hornets, the same year he was traded, 2005: 20.7 mins/2.8 rb/1.2 asst/8.1 pts then the Nachbar-then was almost already the "breakout" Nachbar of now, the moment he left the team
God, people. Is Nachbar really worth arguing about? People treat this like we were the Red Sox giving away Jeff Bagwell in the early 90's. FACT: We won't miss Nachbar. We won't miss him, nor even if we wanted him could we really get him back unless we traded .75 for the dollar ( a.k.a. something like Head and Hayes for Nachbar or something ridiculous ). The Nets like him, let them keep them. This is like meeting up with an ex-girlfriend again who was annoying, selfish, and demanding only to realize she could give great head. Well you know what? She should've given great head a long time ago. Too late, the current girlfriend already gives good head. ................okay, bye.
I can't believe people are sitting here whining about Boki Nachbar after we just blew out his team by 34 points before the scrubs came in. Do you really guys enjoy whining this much? It is mind-boggling to me.
::imitates Luffy:: LUFFY: It's not about that, JeopardE! If we had not traded Nachbar, we would've beaten the Nets by 70 points! I'm not happy! JVG shouldn't be trusted! He's bald, that's why! NAAAAAHHH.
After reading 6 pages i might as well add my humble opinion which might not really change much . it's not about boki it's about JVG and the selective memory some people are suffering from in here, which helps them forget the games lost or the lip alston gave to VG when he benched him against cleveland i believe. So maybe we should stop cheering so much 4 beating the nets and think how nice it would be if we were in another level like let's say the mavs ( for example) and as 4 discipline goes VG should practice some on himself and stop acting like a bully towards the younger players and like a chicken to the veterans. i also think that what troubles him he should be discussing it with his players and not the press (spanoulis was wrong doing that too but he was prolly desperate). what needs to happen is for the great ( to some in here) JVG to stop putting on a show like a bruce willis wannabe and start taking the best out of every player he's got in order for the ROX to become a championship team.
Gallis, Point taken, but how would you run the Rockets? I believe in the 8-man regular rotation thing. Even if all 12 players were completely obedient to JVG, not all of them will play. Bonzi and Kirk are essentially the same guy, and they have been playing regularly off the bench. The original times Bonzi and Kirk did get out were because of injuries and Bonzi's out-of-shapeness. It's not like JVG doesn't want them in there...I think he does for the exact reasons you and others have mentioned ( their talent, etc. ). But you have to play an 8-man rotation and once a player gets hurt and another 8-man regular rotation forms, you have to stick with it. Right now, the eight-man rotation is: Yao, T-Mac, Rafer, Shane, Luther, Juwan, Dikembe, and Chuck Hayes. Remember early in the season JVG sat out his favorite guys ( Deke and Juwan ) for Snyder and Bonzi to play. This whole thing about him holding a grudge has been blown out-of-proportion. Yes, he's a bit controlling, but I think he's leniant enough. I think it has more to do with the theory of the 8-man rotation than it does with letting players play. You guys are saying he should let V-Span, Bonzi, Novak, and Kirk play more. If that's the case, who should be out? Would you all be in favor of taking Deke and Juwan out? My only criticism of JVG is that he needs to cool off on Luther and use a nine-man rotation with Bonzi/Kirk playing Luther's minutes. This has been the only criticism of JVG's current coaching philosophy which holds validity.
There are some diehard boki fans here. He was never good. It's only because he was a part of the WBPS.
