Bojan Bogdanović signs a 3-year deal with Brooklyn

The Brooklyn Nets have reached an agreement with European sharpshooter Bojan Bogdanovic on a three-year contract, multiple sources confirmed to ESPNNewYork.com Friday night.

Bogdanovic's three-year contract will start at $2.5 million, a source said.

Bogdanovic will get most of the team's taxpayer mini mid-level exception, a source said, but not all of it, enabling the Nets to save money on their luxury tax bill, which is expected to be around an NBA-record $80 million next season.

Bogdanovic, 24, was playing professionally for Fenerbahce Ulker in Turkey.

The contract came together in the past couple days, a source said, with the Nets having to complete a buyout with Fenerbahce to bring Bogdanovic over.

The 6-foot-8 swingman was acquired by the Nets in a 2011 draft-night trade in with the Miami Heat after the Heat selected him with the 31st overall pick in the second round. Brooklyn has held his rights ever since.

Bogdanovic, who hails from Croatia, is a career 38.1 percent 3-point shooter.

He likely will back up Paul Pierce at small forward.

Nets general manager Billy King had stated his intentions to bring Bogdanovic over at the beginning of the offseason, but chased after Kyle Korver after completing a blockbuster trade to bring in Pierce and Kevin Garnett.

But Korver ended up staying the with the Atlanta Hawks (four years, $24 million).

Good signing to fill the Nets rotation, and we finally have a player in the NBA after a 3 year hiatus.
Bogdanović is a lights out shooter and a fairly athletic small forward, his problem will be keeping up on the defensive end. If he improves that aspect of his game, I can see him playing in the NBA for a long time.

Well, you can put forth $500k towards a buyout. Past that, he may have agreed to eat the cost in order to get to the NBA. Its not unheard of.

Well, he had games for Cibona where he would just chuck away, but that team was pretty mediocre. He played under control for Fenerbahce and Croatia and played team-first, so I don't think it will be a problem in Brooklyn.
