Damn CD! Bogans was a good Rocket, dude! What ever you do ... DON 'T SIGN Stevenson! He is too expensive and not good enough for the Rockets! I 'd rather have Ariza as back up SF next to Novak, so TRADE BOWEN! Sign Fred Jones as SG and if we need to have another back up SG sign Voshon Lenard, he is 33, but he can shoot (better than Wesley and Bogans) AND he is a veteran so JVG won 't mind! :D

No real loss in my opinion. Seemed to hustle but has no real skills and can't shoot with any kind of consistency.

What a bunch of whiners there are here in the BBS. Geez its not like we have unlimited cap space to throw money around. Losing Swift is not that bad and obviously his value is not that high around the league. If Jerry West thinks so highly of him then why did he let him walk last year without even so much as a counter offer?

Getting Battier was a great move. This guy is a winner with a good bball IQ. Not an allstar but a quality role player who knows his role on a team and has a high percentage jump shot. He will be a great addition to the team.

There is still a ton of time left and most teams don't want to seem anxious right out of the gate. I like the direction we are going personally and have faith in the people who actually have experience in the NBA.

Its not like Michael Jordan had a bunch of all stars on his teams did he? Neither did the Lakers with Shaq and Kobe so lets just temper down the whining a bit here and let the offseason play itself out.

I check NBA contracts. Lampe has a team option next year. So he is a Rox. But WTH is he in Suns summer team? But he did well in summer league.
Stevenson really sucks. 0.133 3-point shooting is unacceptable in Rox team.
Bogans is much cheaper than him.

Okay, so who is in the rotation at the moment for this season :

    Tracy McGrady
    Yao Ming
    Shane Battier
    Juwan Howard
    Rafer Alston
    Luther Head
    Dikembe Mutombo

    Maybe...

    Bob Sura
    Steve Novak

The Rockets definitely need a backup pg and a reliable scorer. Not sure if there are any high percentage shooters left in free agency.

I wish football season would just start so I can forget about the mess this team has become. :(

At the 2, my guess would be that we're targeting Stevenson. Backup 1, looks like Banks. V-Span, doesn't look like he wants to leave Greece. JL3, looks like he's our 3rd string pg. Stevenson however is looking for the full MLE, and I'm sure there are teams willing to give him that. I wouldn't mind signing Pat Carroll to the minimum and giving Cato the veteran's minimum.

    Alston/Banks/JL3
    Sura/Head/Pat Carroll
    McGrady/Novak/Bowen
    Battier/Howard/Hayes
    Yao/Mutombo/Cato

We can always sign Lonnie Baxter again and trade him to the Magic for Bogans!

You're right--I can't. But what I can say for him (not that I even care to defend the dude, but I am just hopeful the moves work this summer work out for the best unlike many who post here and assume that only the moves which they like could even possibly turn out well) is that the moves one makes after winning always look better in retrospect. I know several Detroiters who were none-to-happy about some of the moves made along the way to a championship, but winning is sort of an amnesiatic stun-gun for complaining fans: they immediately forget opposing them and jump on the bandwagon.

But they get off just as easily, as we see happening now in Detroit. The whole point of my post was to contest the notion that "some" organizations can anticipate whatever situation may arise and magically move to fill those holes, while others exercise no foresight. Sort of like the suggestion that last season's misery could have been avoided and we should have contended for the playoffs even with the injuries to McGrady and Yao. But you proved well the obverse corollary: those who have won are graded much more charitably than those who are building, regardless of the move made. Amnesia.

Not really a problem. We could accept him under our 4.2m trade exception and get a new trade exception created by trading Bogans.

I agree though, I don't think we want him.

I do admit that the hustle Bogans provided will be missed but not his poor shot selection and his inconsistency to hit the jumper. He was a good fit with the Rockets when they had their all-stars injured, but assuming everyone is back to perfect health once the season starts, they really dont need a player like Bogans. He isnt a pure shooter and the Rockets cannot rely on a SG who cant hit a jumper that is 12+ feet.

Like people said previously, DeShawn Stevenson will want more money than he deserves. He should not be one of the major free agents that we should pursue. The Rockets should go after Ariza or Eddie House, someone with a more proven shot.

I cannot believe people are okay with this.

MY GOD think people, this means Ryan Bowen will once again be getting about 15 minutes a game.

I have seriuosly lost all faith in the Rockets organization.

This team is obviously in dump salary mode.

Just don't get the CD defenders here...

So we let Bogans go (which shouldn't be a big deal except we have NO depth right now so we kind of need him) and we are pursuing Deshawn and Flip (allegedly) who are worse outside shooters than Keith and are probably asking for twice as much money.

Makes perfect sense...if you are Zeke

And I know some of you CD defenders are going to say, "hold on...he might have some things in the works", but the bottom line is that IF there is a trade he is working on, we probably need a 1 for 2 or 3 person trade and we have no one that we could get for that. Plus, what are our tradable assets? the TE and Luther? what is that gonna get us?

    So frustrating

I hope this post comes back to haunt me b/c that means the team has been improved

While I get the point you are trying to make...MJ had Pippen, Grant/Rodman, Kerr, Paxson, etc... and Shaq/Kobe had guys that could nail the three's. I would feel a lot better if we had a good amount of decent players that were 3 point sharp-shooters

I'm not whining, and I still think we can be a 5-8 seed, but I was really hoping for a better off-season. There isn't much left out there

If Keith Bogans is getting significant minutes on this team, it means they suck. Example = last year.

Not saying he wouldn't have been okay as a SMALL role off the bench, but then you don't pay $2 million a year for that, especially if you can't afford to split up your MLE because you need someone who can give you more minutes.
