I will be out of town until late monday evening..... All my leagues rosters should be ok so the only worry I have is this draft. If things get rolling without me I should be back then.

I think we should just use whatever fanstar determines as a player's position.

Still no update on the website. If all else fails, we will have to go with Crisco's idea. The guys that run Fanstar are great though and I'm sure they can make any changes we need to accomodate our league.

As far as the schedule goes, it is made out. There will be 45 games for each team. Monday-Thursday will count as one game and Friday-Sunday is another game.

    As for the playoffs:

The semifinal round, consisting of the three division winners and wild card, will go like this: The division winner with the best record* will play the wild card team, and the other 2 division winners will face off from Monday- Thursday.

The 2 winning teams will play for the championship from Friday-Wednesday (which is the last day of the NBA season)

    * If a tie should occur, the team with the highest point total for the year plays the wild card.

I say we go with how Fanstar has people listed with the exception of when players are CLEARLY listed out of position.

Is there a way to determine where a player started the majority of his games? We could use that as the determining factor.

    my $0.02:

Why has the league changed to 2 games per week? I thought the way it was set-up last year was great. Having a win or loss determined by only 3 nights seems too short in my opinion. Were there complaints about once a week games?

And I for one have never been a fan of the playoff system. It seems strange to have your whole season come down to the last week of the season where often players are in cruise control either from their season being over or resting for the playoffs. At least last year there was 10 days of games to sort of offset this problem. Now there are even less games to determine the champion. I think the more fair way to determine the champion would be overall wins for the season.

I'd be fine with using Yahoo's player position set-up. I think the more multi-position players the better. It makes the draft more interesting and makes the Center position easier to fill.

Why has the league changed off of Yahoo. Were there problems with Yahoo last year?

I guess I don't understand why there are all these changes being made. I don't remember any complaints from last year. I for one had a great time in the league and don't see the need for all the changes.

But it is clearly not my league and the commish should run his league as he sees fit.

    Why the changes Finn?

I hope my criticisms/questions don't offend because I think everyone who helps run the fantasy league does a great job.

We only went to yahoo because Sandbox went to pot. Yahoo was only temporary. Yahoo was very limited as far as the scoring setup was concerned, not offering FG% or FT%.

1 game a week is just boring IMHO. We had 2 games a week with Sandbox and I am attempting to restore the league to its original setup.

Every team plays weekend games, so the Fri-Sun thing is not as bad as you think. As a matter of fact over the course of a full season teams play just as many games between fri-sun as they do mon-thur.

Actually Yahoo does have a way to factor in FG and FT % (at least this year they do, never checked last year). The way I've seen it set-up is you subtract 0.5 points for every attempted FT and give 1.5 points for every made FT. Same concept with FG%: 2.5 points for made FG and minus 0.5 for every FG attempted. This can also be done for 3s.

I didn't mean just 3 nights is to little to determine a win or loss but that 3 OR 4 days was too little and that a full week was best. But I've never tried half weeks so I'm willing to give it a try.

Looking forward to another fun year.

I value everyone's opinion in this league.

I thought having 3 divisions would make it more interesting for everyone. If you guys want to go back to the 2 division set up, speak up now. I won't name any names but there were some owners who lost interest once they got off to a slow start and I am trying to avoid that this year.

We could go with a full week(7 days) for the Semi's and a full week for the Championship. This would make a 44 game schedule and eliminate the last 3 days of the real NBA season when NBA Playoff Teams might rest their stars.

the thing that sucks about doing it weekly imo, is if you get an injured player early on in the week, you are basically screwed and have less of a chance of making it up in the standings since there are less fantasy games to be played. Doing it twice a week gives you more of a chance to combat injuries.

Matador, another problem with Yahoo is that they did not offer head to head matchups. That's why I set up a web page with the scores added from Yahoo's total points setup. It was a pain in the ass to update that page every day for an entire season.

Personally I'm not a big fan of playoffs, but I know I'm probly in the minority.

But that sounds good and fair to me.

I wish I could use injuries as an excuse for my teams performance last year, but the fact is my team just sucked.

Time to turn over a new leaf and win this league:)

Ouch. Low blow, Lard Boy! But it won't matter because I could draft Wilt and you'd still be watching me play for the prize. :D

Yep, Behad really ran the league last year. All I did is set up the scoring on Yahoo, Behad did everything else. He made out a schedule, updated the scoring daily, kept track of the standings.

Yahoo only kept a record of our Total Points.

Ok gang, we better get this draft started. The season begins on Oct. 28th. That gives us 2 weeks to get through 12 rounds.

    Here is the website:

    http://www.fantasybasketballone.com/bobfinnsfant/index.php

It's still not ready, as far as the scoring setup and the utility feature, but you can get an idea of what positions certain players are. These can be changed. Hopefully they will add the multi-player feature that will allow players to be eligible for different positions.

Please put your emails on the website so we can email trades and so you can be notified of all transactions. Also so I will be able to contact you when your pick is coming up.

I will start a seperate thread for the Draft, and hopefully we can get it started shortly.

Will the draft be on the site or in a thread here?

Also, I'll only be able to check in on the draft maybe early in the mornings, around noon'ish, and then anytime after about 6pm till 2am.

Two weeks to get one of our drafts done may be a major undertaking.

The new league site looks great.

I don't know how we are going to do an effective draft if we don't know what position players are at.

The Hakeem Olajuwon division looks overly stacked:

The Cat, DoD, Clutch, Smeg, and myself all finsished last year in the top tier of teams. From my memeory Smeg finished 2nd in overall points, me 3rd in overall points, DoD played in the championship game, and The Cat and Clutch both were in the top half of the league if I remember correctly. And with SF3 leaving (he had the most overall fantasy points) almost all the top managers from last year are in the same division.

I guess it will be similar to the real NBA: all the best talent in one conference and then the lesser JV conference far behind. ;)

I set up a seperate thread for the draft. ALL PICKS WILL BE POSTED ON THIS BBS IN THE DRAFT THREAD. I will add them to the rosters on the site as soon as I am able after each player is picked.

I hope I didn't wait too long to start this year. It will be a miracle if we finish before the season starts:(

Ok, what did I do wrong? I went to the site and changed my team name. I went back to edit something else, but now it's asking me for a password. I don't recall setting a password. If I did, it was by accident.

    Help. :)
