I can't believe there are four objections to this trade. It was a fair deal! Ren gives up two solid players and the #2 center in the league (a superstar in his own right at the scarcest position) for a solid player and a superstar guard. Plus, to sweeten the deal, he throws in a hot and cold guard who can be plugged into a lineup on weeks where he plays a lot of games. What is so unfair about this? Personally, I actually think that Clutch wins this trade. Eddie Griffin has dramatically improved, so his current value is not reflected in his fp/g average. Likewise with Battier. Don't be a trade Nazi. Just because you don't agree with a trade doesn't mean that it isn't fair. If there is no collusion or obvious one-sidedness, then let it slide. Stackhouse = Mutombo Sczerbiak = Griffin/Battier/Anderson Good deal for both teams. Clutch needed depth and Ren wanted an upgrade. Sure, there is some risk involved; there always is with rookies; but that's a part of the game. Fair trades like this should not be voted down. Otherwise, this is a farce.
Bob I cant offer a trade to Clutch because it says I already have a pending trade with him. Any chance you can go ahead and withdraw it so I dont have to wait?
I agree with fade & Phi. This trade should not have been shot down. I will delete it and you can try again Ren. Who objected to this trade? and why?
I was wondering why I've been getting offers for players I thought I had already traded. This trade was rejected? Why? If everyone thinks this is an unfair deal, that's fine. But if you think that's unfair, you should see what I've been offered. Pimp rejected the deal? That's funny. Strange. I'm still adjusting to the rules/scoring of the league, but Ren and I went back and forth 3-4 times and I thought the end result would be a pretty good deal for me... maybe I'm wrong, don't know...
Try the same offer to Ren again Clutch. I deleted the last one so we don't have to wait the 2 days. I am curious as to who voted against it. I figured Pimp did but am clueless as to who else D0D maybe? Smeg? Hmmm....
That's OK .... I'll look at some offers but maybe it's best I get more acclimated with the league before making any deals. I can understand their concerns.... you have to be careful that the bottom-dwellars don't get pillaged. I really do understand that. But from my point of view, I can't be overly concerned if it's going to help Ren move to the top of the rankings.... I have to focus on winning a game. I mean lets be honest .... I'm not about to win anything inheriting a 2-10 team with injured players in the starting lineup.... and some of the guys I do have play like they might as well be injured The "fun factor" isn't going to be real high obviously -- I didn't draft these guys and it's a crappy team. I looked at Griffin as being a risk... could be that he doesn't turn out to be much better than my other players, but he obviously can do a lot of things and on any given night could put up a lot of points. His range on points is going to be higher than say a Turkoglu or a Rodney Rogers, and having him on my roster makes it more fun for me to watch him do well. I looked at Battier as being a consistent rookie (35+ a night) and Mutombo as putting up 40 fps a night. Kenny Anderson was the best throw-in I could get (mainly what we negotiated), but I don't know if he'll play. Basically I became "less lopsided" towards guards (I have Kittles, Hughes and Mercer) and can play more forwards and another center. I know Stackhouse is a stud (42+) and Szczerbiak is also very strong (36.7), but why is this that bad of a deal? Honestly, maybe I missed something .... I didn't see any per minute or "last month" stats so I couldn't get an accurate gauge of how many fps they're putting up lately (only saw "season", "last period" or "this period") Like I said though, I understand their point of view, so I'll hold off for now. But I hope you guys didn't just want me to play so I could keep this losing and stagnant roster rotating for you as dead meat. I have better things I could do with my time...
I rejected it because I reject any trade that makes a division rival better. I really have nothing against the trade and to be honest, I thought there was no way it would not pass. Boy was I wrong... if you guys do the trade, I'll go ahead and accept it. I think it's a fair deal.
Clutch, D0D is our resident STAT-GOD He updates (every couple of weeks) the fantasy averages per game of damn near every player in the NBA. http://www.geocities.com/bobsleague/playerstats.html If you go to "Option" then "Links" on the League site, I have several useful links set up. You can put these on your Home Page for your convenience.
What is so funny about rejecting this trade? I didn't agree with it 100% and that's my opinion and was obviously the opinion of 3 other GM's. That being said, I still didn't think it would be shot down. Now that I've had the time to think about it some more, I really don't think it will help either team that much because while Ren aquired some more consistent talent, he will now have to dip into the thin waivers for below average talent and Clutch aquired some good, but very inconsistent players(all of them, including Mutombo who is barely the 5th best center in the league). So, who else voted against this trade?? C'mon, grab your cojones and step up.
The question (another one) I have is this: Exactly who is Clutch supposed to trade to try an improve his team? Rodney Rodgers? Turkoglu? I don't think so. I knew once he joined this league he would get flooded with ridiculous offers for both Wally and Stack. He gives up: Stack (42 fpg) and Wally (38) And in return, gets: Mutumbo (39) Battier (35) Anderson (30) and Griffin (25) Griffin is improving every game.
Well, you asked "Funny" because you made a pretty bad offer for Stackhouse (in my opinion much worse than anything Ren offered me), which I assume you would not reject. But you rejected Ren and I's trade proposal, then immediately made another offer for Stackhouse (and I was wondering why since I had already dealt him). That's what I meant by "funny". Could you explain though how Scottie Pippen and Tim Thomas are more "consistent" than what I would have got in the deal you rejected? I'm serious ... maybe I'm missing something that is a key to success in this league.
Damn DoD .... impressive! Thanks for the heads up Finn... I'll check that out. BTW, I had Szczerbiak at between 36 and 37 (just calculations off the fantasy league site) in making the deal... I thought it was good for both Ren and I, but I don't want to make others in the league upset... we can maybe work something else out. DoD's page is going to be a big help ...
Thanks for bringing this up on the board, Clutch. Did I offer Thomas?? Wow, that is bad!! I must have been drunk, tired or both when I made that proposal.
Well which were you the second time you offered him to me? Kidding.... I wasn't going to bring it up on the board, but you asked. No offense intended... it just struck me as funny because I'm kind of in a situation where I thought it was a decent deal, but I can only deal with someone who doesn't threaten 4 other teams. Know what I mean?
That's cool man...no offense taken. Anyway, if you guys want to try and make that deal again, I'll approve, although I still don't think it will help either of you that much...but that's on you guys.
If no one else has a problem with this trade: Ren trades Mutumbo, Griffin, Battier and Kenny Anderson to Clutch for Wally Szerbiak and Jerry Stackhouse I can make this trade go through tonight.
I'll admit that I voted against it for two reasons: 1) I think it gives Ren an unfair advantage in aquiring not one but two consistant scoring threats. I sympathize with Clutch, but I would think it much more fair if he traded his two top scorers to two different teams. 2) There were three votes against it at the time, so I decided to push it over the edge. I see Clutch's point of view; he gets four decent players to help move him out of the cellar. But I'm in the middle of the pack and still have aspirations of making a run for the top. I don't want teams above me getting such an advantage.
But that's not for you to say. Just because you don't want such a trade to happen is irrelevant. That isn't the purpose of the protest/veto feature. One should only object to a trade if there is some conspiracy going on, or if it is blatantly and unequivocally one-sided. One of the best aspects of a fantasy league is the ability to make trades. If people are going to be voting down fair trades, that goes against the whole spirit of the league.
