Jermaine is not playing tonight. Travis Best just took a knee to the thigh (dammit) <u>All owners in Smeg's footy league</u> <i>The trade between Phi and Fade should not be allowed. Edgerrin James is injured and most likely out for the season. Very unfair trade IMHO.</i>
Dudes. The jury is still out on whether Edge will come back this year. Mora himself said that ESPN jumped the gun when they said he'd be out for the season and that it's possible he could be back in 2 more weeks. Plus, Warner has been throwing a ton of interceptions lately with a sore thumb that may not get better. All in all, a risky trade for both sides, but both our teams have been hurting lately, so something must be done. Phi proposed it.
<i>"In two to three weeks, the doctors expect to know more (about James' condition)," Polian said. "They believe two to three weeks is feasible before they decide what course of action to follow. At that point his conditioning will be a factor (as to if James can return)." <b>Colts coach Jim Mora and Polian disputed the claim that James could be out for the year.</b> "I was told 'Jim, it's on the Internet that Edgerrin is out for the season,"' Mora said in his Monday news conference. "So I turned my computer on. I read the report on ESPN and I just kind of chuckled. I don't know where they get this information." "It (the report) is a lot of uninformed speculation from people who are uninformed," Polian said. </i> http://espn.go.com/nfl/news/2001/1111/1276788.html
This is the latest from the Colts themselves: http://www.colts.com/video/2001/wk10bp100k.asx Nothing conclusive as of yet. --- Running back Edgerrin James traveled to Miami early this week for a team-encouraged second opinion on his sprained knee by University of Miami team physician John Uribe. He is expected to miss at least the next 2-to-3 weeks, at which time he will be further evaluated, Polian said. Nov 12 3:25pm - The Colts are not confirming reports that James' sprained knee will force him to miss the rest of the season, but they are saying he'll miss at least two more weeks. "Our doctors felt it was appropriate to shut him down for another two or three weeks," Colts president Bill Polian said Monday. "They're not certain what the severity is."
And Warner: Nov 11, 2001 10:50pm It seemed innocent enough in the season opener against Philadelphia, but Warner's nagging thumb injury continues to be troublesome. Warner frequently has the thumb wrapped during the week. Some minor swelling continues to linger, and it appears to be hindering Warner's ability to throw the deep ball. He's thrown seven interceptions in the past two games, and some of the longer tosses look like their floating just a tad, just enough to allow a DB to occasionally swoop in for an interception. One would think the thumb would have been close to fully healed after the bye week, but that wasn't the case. It's something Warner will have to play through, perhaps for the rest of the season. Brad Miller 56 tonight. Way to go big guy,and hopefully he will keep it up since Floyd has finally decided to stay with him instead of playing him 20 minutes and let awful Chandler and Curry play. 35 for Mutumbo
I have to admit, I proposed it, but I had no idea Edge was out for the season. If that's true, then that trade is a bum deal. But I can swallow my pride cause I'm out of it anyway. It really doesn't matter to me, but 8 games of nothing seems a little bit on raw side. If the league is against the trade then you should propose it back. You don't want to win with a cloud hanging over your head. If Edge gives me 4 or 5 games then I think it's fair, but out for the season, that's a raw deal.
It's up to you, phi. If you really want to go back on this deal, I have no problem with proposing it back. I really think the protestors are jumping the gun here and are acting on bad information. The Colts organization (the only really reliable source) has not yet stated that James is gone for the season. Their plan is to shut him down for 2-3 more weeks and make another evaluation then. Yes, there's a big chance he'll be lost, but there's also a possibility he might return. Until we hear from the Colts, we can't know for sure. There's also a possibility that Warner's thumb could turn into something more serious and cause him to miss time. I accepted this trade under the assumption that you understood all the risks involved (and because the emergence of Shaun Alexander made James expendable). However, since you apparantly did not, then just say the word and I'll propose it right back at you. There are a lot of protests, but I think that this should be your decision, not theirs.
