Sent my money today, sorry Pimp. I've been trying a murder case all week and all my energy has been wrapped up in that. I hope you didn't really doubt that I'd send you 6 bucks.
It's cool. We're just getting close to draft time (Monday) so we need to wrap this up. On the Paypal site, click on Send Money, then enter my email address: tattooedgroove at gmail.com
LOL! No worries, I knew you'd come through. That just leaves rawool, who I am about to replace.... Get with it rookie! If we can wrap this up we can start the draft sooner than Monday.
I like the idea of having PG-SG-SF-PF-C and 3 flex players to start. But I was checking yahoo player pages and it seems unfair. There are very few players that are listed as strictly SG, SF, or PF. I majority of players are listed with dual positions, such as GF or FC. For example Tim Duncan is a FC. So could you start him a C, PF, or SF? Vince Carter is listed as a GF. So could you start him at PG, SG, SF or PF? I also checked nba.com player pages and they do not break players down into catagoris other than G, F or C or a combination. Any suggestions? Instead of PG, SG, SF, PF, C and 3 flex with 4 bench and 1 IR; we could have: 4 G's, 4 F's, 2 C's and 2 bench and 1 IR.
I believe in this league we have to declare the player's position when we draft them... which makes them eligible only at that position. Yahoo does a much better job of keeping track which players start at which positions than NBA.com. If Duncan is listed as a F/C, you can draft him as a Center, and that is his only position for the season. Playing players at multiple positions would mean somebody would have to keep track of games played so no position gets too many starts.
Thanks for the clarification. So you could draft Vince Carter and declare him a PG and then he would be a PG for the rest of the year?
no, Carter does not have PG eligibility. His profile says Guard/Forward but his only eligible positions are SG/SF according to the yahoo fantasy player list.
Ok thanks. Can you provide a link to the yahoo fantasy player list or do you have to be signed up to play yahoo fantasy for access?
Since we are giving suggestions, here is another. I like this scoring breakdown better Points: +1 FG missed: -1 FT missed: -0.5 Assists: +2 Rebounds: +1.5 Steals: +2.5 Blocks: +2.5 Turnovers: -1 Technical fouls: -3 My rational is that these changes are more like a real NBA game in gauging a players worth and value 1. for subtraction of points for missed shots: takes into account players who jack-up way too many shots or can't make free throws and penalizes them, just like missing shots in a real NBA game hurts the player's team. 2. assists worth more fantasy points than rebs: just like in the NBA assists are more rare than rebs and it could be argued that assists are more important to your team success 3. Steals and blocks: steals and blocks are more rare than rebs and assists and I think deserve more fantasy points because they are more crucial, IMHO, to a team's success 4. took away extra point for making a 3 pointer: you are already getting 3 points, why should you get 4? just my 2 cents.
In the past, if a player had multi-eligibility, you were allowed to change his position mid season. I switched Josh Howard back and forth from guard to forward last year a few times depending on where I needed him. Pimp just did it manually upon request.
Ok, now I remember something like that. I guess what I meant to say is you are only supposed to have the player eligible at one spot... now if an injury or something happens you can request to switch him to his other position... makes sense.
I hope you got my money RP, I had to set up a whole new paypal account under a new email address - don't email me back on that one as I don't check it. Let me know if you got it and apologize for the delay. I just wish I had a better excuse like Sam there...sorry........
The problem with position eligibility is there isn't any one perfect list. I agree though that Yahoo lists too many guys at positions they simply don't play much. Still NBA.com misses some positions. I have to hit the road to HTown to visit family, so I won't be able to look into the differences between the Yahoo lists right now. Anyone care to take the lead? Regarding the scoring change, I think we're too late in the game to be making changes, but if enough people can agree...
