That's a very good and valid point. Again, I was just comparing non-starters. It's nice to have a quality PF that can legitimately play C in addition to a true C in your starting lineup. Other than Kobe, that is the Lakers biggest advantage over the rest of the league.
gasol "can" play at C and we can get by but that doesn't mean he's very effective there. Tonight he got destroyed by guys like Okafor and Juwan Howard at C i wish phil jackson would play Powell at C. The guy may be undersized but he's a terrific rebounder and defender.
BrooksBall, I hereby retract my statement about the Bobcats being irrelevant. Since it's obvious the Bucks will now sink like a rock with Redd out for the season, the Bobcats are really just one game out of the 8th seed in the East behind the Nets. They have realistic chance for the postseason if they keep this team together. Passing the Nets and Knicks isn't exactly a monumental challenge. Then again, one could still consider the 8th seed in the East irrelevant since they will face the Celts or Cavs in the 1st round.
dont forget about the Magic.. everyone keeps overlooking them. but they beat all the good teams out west...
I guarantee you that injuries on the only way the Celts and Cavs won't finish ahead of the Magic. After the All-Star break (maybe before), the separation will begin.
The game should shut people up about who the real mvp of the Lakers. Not only does the Lakers lead the lakers in most metric calculations but the Lakers simply collapsed when Kobe went out. There is no one on that team who has the balls or the mental fortitude to make plays down the stretch. The only guy who was doing anything was Bynum. Without Kobe, the team would win like 40 games.
