I dunno Landry can really hit a mid range jumper which is a huge huge weapon we are missing.

I would match that and would sign Dorsey and then Deke to a minimum contract. I would also until the trade deadline attempt to move someone (Head or Francis). Would either one get us under the luxury tax level?

I don't know about Lux tax but we can sign Dorsey easily for a mil or less and I am pretty sure the vets minimum does not count against anything.

i mean if we can resign him and match the offer sheet maybe we can trade him to a team that wants him for another center. Cuz i think we are good with scola dorsey and hayes, id rather have a better backup via trade because mutombo isnt really gona help

What if Dorsey doesn't accept a minimum contract?

3 yr/ 3mil per, that's a fair deal, at least no one was dumb enough to sign him for the full MLE, this should give Morey plenty of room to sign Deke and Dorsey.

Then Deke gets more than the minimum. Why is it that people here are equating what Landry did last year with what even a high 2nd round pick does 1/30th of the time? Amazing.

I wasn't equating the two. If Dorsey accepted the league minimum, why wouldn't he have signed weeks ago? My understanding is that signing him to the league minimum would have no bearing on our mid-level exception money. I thought the reason no deal was made with Dorsey yet was specifically because he wanted more than the league minimum or the standard contact for a player in his draft position.

Dorsey will get more than min and the main reason he wasn't signed first was the fear of someone sending landry a full mle offer. If that happened after dorsey signed, then the rockets would have zero ability to match that offer.

That was my point. I was initially responding to somebody talking about signing Dorsey to a min contract.

I think Dorsey didn't sign yet because we want to give him a 3 year deal instead of two.
If you use the standard minimum contract for 2nd round picks you can't offer more than 2 years.
So we will dip into the MLE and lock him up for 3 years , probably for the same amount as the league minimum or little more.

That sounds familiar but why would the third year count against this year's MLE if the first two years are at the minimum?

This is great ... Finally some signs of life out of Landry's contract negotiation. I would be surprised if Morey doesn't match even if it's front loaded. I also think Morey isn't going to use full 7 days to consider matching since the best case scenario is to have Landry report to training camp on time.
