Morey is a genious offers him half of what he thinks is worth, remember he said what was offered is fair, charlotte says they will double it. morey expects that and BAM we got landry back.

If morey offered a fair amount did he really think landry was gonna take a fair amount? NO So he offered half and when charlotte said we will double that baker was on his high horse and said you got a deal, but in the background you hear morey laughing cause that is what he planned all along.

    I LOVE YOU MOREY

Morey has to match the offer in one week without checking Landry's knee.

    it is tough.

you know thats probably how it played out.

if Landry's knee is back to what it was pre-injury than 3mil/year is more than reasonable for a guy of landry's ability and skill.

No we gave him more $$$ to make sure he'd finish his career as a Houston Rocket. Pay the man the max.

Morey matches this easily. 3 mill in nba salary is chump change. Nba teams wipe their asses with that kind of money.

The Bobcats are notoriously cheap when it comes to their payroll so its probably going to be a reasonable offer that we have to match. I would say the reports of 9M for 3 years is right on, glad it was them that bid for Landry rather than some big spenders like the Knicks.

Glad this is over, look forward to having Landry at camp.

According to Feigen, this offer sheet would put us past the luxury tax threshold, which means we may make some other cost cutting moves. Plus we still have Deke's contract to work out.

For some reason, I thought we had a little more flexibility salary-wise then that.

Regardless of the luxury tax, you got to match this offer IMO. You can always dump salary later like we did with Kirk Snyder last year.

Well Luther and Francis expire after the season and Reed and Butler will be off the books too so we won't be in luxury tax for long.

I'd bet they front-loaded the thing a bit to make sure of it.

My guess it that Rockets still match it. acquisitions. Being slightly (or even a couple million dollars) over the tax threshhold in September is no big deal. They have until the trade deadline to dump some salaries to get under the luxury tax threshhold.

I believe they were over the tax threshhold last October, too, after the Francis, Scola, Butler etc. transactions. Morey managed to get under the tax threshhold by trading Wells and James for Jackson.

Come February, the minor contracts of Head, Francis, etc. (or whoever end up out of the rotation), can easily be moved.

I'd do the deal. Still gotta get Deke on board though. Dunno how Morey is going to use his magic to get us under the cap, but I think he'll find a way.

As I see it, it's great news. I've been saying Landry's knee was a bluff (with about 100 guys here) for months. There were many here who said $3 mil. was about right too.

And for those who say Landry wasn't the same after the injury - he wasn't, but the "rookie wall" is a very real thing and the kid had a great first season.
