Well, it turned out how I thought it would. Although, you know he'll get another job somewhere else. These coaches seem to land on their feet time after time. Maybe the Saints will hire him, that would be hilarious.

They absolutely do. It's not so much the cheating that did Petrino in, but the lying to administration - it cemented the long-standing reputation that he can't be trusted. Here's a great article interviewing the parents of Dorial Green-Beckham, the nation's No. 1 recruit last year who turned down Arkansas on signing day. Here's one quote from his adopted mom:

    http://msn.foxsports.com/collegefoo...side-the-chase-for-nations-top-recruit-020112

Lots of interesting details there. Parents definitely care about this. Of course, it's partly irrelevant now that he's been fired. :)

Surprising, but I'm glad they did it. What a dirt bag.

I am with you on this one. He is toast. Actually, he even looks like toast. The male mid life crises is almost a rerun of adolescence.

Yes, I pointed out earlier in this thread that some of the parents of recruits would not be happy with Petrino, and that it could cause problems in regard to recruiting. I realize some people don't care about coaches having affairs or coaches telling lies to cover up their indiscretions, but some people do.

Arkansas had no choice. This moron was having an affair with a department employee (who by the way was engaged to another department employee) and hooked his hoe up with a cushy job.

He abused his position as head coach. He lied about the accident. He showed no character.

Arkansas can find another head coach.

He's scumbag in the past, present and future. The day I hated him is when he quit on Atlanta Falcons with 3 or 4 games left in the season...at least have some respect to at least finish out the season..

Eh, I think they'll be fine this year. There's decent depth within that coaching staff and it doesn't change the fact that they have a favorable schedule with tons of returning talent, including a proven stud at QB.

Where it hurts them is in the 2-to-5 year time period, assuming they can't make a home-run hire this spring. Arkansas is a good program, but they're not an Ohio State that has the brand name to survive a year with an interim HC. Unlike OSU, Arkansas doesn't regularly draw top 10 classes. The summer is when most in-roads are made in recruiting, and I don't see a lot of kids/parents buying what they sell, given the uncertainty. Moreover, with so much veteran talent and coming off a year in which they whiffed on their biggest targets (DGB), this is a year that the Hogs really need to do well in recruiting.

After Bama and LSU, the line between being the No. 3 program in the SEC and the No. 10 program is ridiculously thin. Prior to the last two weeks, they were making a push for the former (big picture); now, it looks like the latter is a lot more realistic. I think they'll do well this fall and we'll see a lot of short-sighted stories about how well the program "recovered". But the true impact is years away.

Would hit, that chick is hawt...

Arakansas had to fire him, but even though he's a douche, he's a douche that can coach/win...

I'm assuming she's uninjured and doing ok, but overall, Petrino put the p&ssy on a pedistal and got burned...

[rquoter]Working thru phone records. LOTS of Petrino-Dorrell contact. Including during football season.

Alabama game day featured seven texts. Other days 70-plus.

    Like so...

Troy game day: 70 texts. Arkansas won 38-28.

UA knew what was coming in these documents and more. Further proof Long had no choice. [/rquoter]

    [rQUOTEr]4 consecutive days prior to Bama game, first BP call of day to Dorrell's #: 5:52 a.m. Tues., 6:35 a.m. Wed, 5:49 a.m. Thurs, 7:55 a.m. Fri[/rQUOTEr]

[rquoter]Have Bobby Petrino's cell phone records in hand. Finding frequent contact between the two parties dating back to September.

Anyone know what Pict Video MSG means on a phone bill? There are some of those, too.

Folks, lots and lots of records to go through. Gonna take awhile to process all the information.

Example of what dealing with: Just went through one day - Oct. 17 - and found 73 text messages exchanged between the two.

Exchanged 84 texts in about 5-hour span on Oct. 28, day before game at Vanderbilt. Arkansas won 31-28[/rquoter]

the reason the sports media is the only one reporting this story is no one gives a crap about razorback football. if it were the notre dame coach it would be a different story.

The Saints should hire him. He might last the first 4 games and by that time the assistant will be back.
