I'll go out on a limb ( ) and say that Crist will be the choice. As stated before, ain't no way it's Jindal and I think the nod to Romney is just a show of respect because he and McCain are on better terms now. You heard it here first (at least on this forum): The choice is Crist because he delivered the state that stamped McCain as the man to beat and a governs a state McCain must win in November.
I really think McCain wins Florida with our without Crist on the ticket. Even if Crist isn't on the ticket, he'll campaign in Florida for McCain. That should be good enough. Whites and Jews in Florida just won't vote for Obama, which will cripple him there. McCain needs Romney on the ticket to appease economic conservatives, as well as provide strength in battleground states like Michigan, Colorado, and Nevada. Like I said before -- if the Republicans win Michigan, they win the White House.
Please please please pick Romney. I agree that McCain probably has Florida locked up regardless of the ticket, so I would also be happy with him wasting his VP pick on Crist.
If I were a Dem, I would want McCain to pick Romney to "appease" others within the GOP. If I were a Republican, I would want Obama to choose Hillary to "unite" the Dem party. The problem is everyone gets a vote in November, not just members of one party or the other.
Ha! Does a French American who doesn't speak french anymore a traitor who has turned his back on france???? I'm Indian American, and I stress the American part. While my parents are hindu for me it's just ritualism and if it suited my ambitions I'd convert too. Being who you are? That's who he is. He's an American. And yes, he's Punjabi too. A black man doesnt have to speak swahilli or go visit africa to be an African American ya know. And frankly, many Indians are republicans because Republicans take a very pro-India stance where as Dems try to punish India. I dont think anyone is in a position to judge the man. Whether he became a Christian or not for personal or political reasons is irrelevant. I hope it was political, because I wouldn't want a deeply religious person in the office of vice president. I perfer Athetist and pragmaticists. And it's very pragmatic to change your religion to Christianity if you want to run for office in America, especially if you don't care much for religion. Amen.
Jorge wants Mitt the Magic Man because, deep down inside, he knows McCain is clueless in general on economic affairs and he somehow believes Mitt the Magic Man may alleviate this.
Mitt is strong because he's an exceptional leader. He has proven, time and again, that he can lead and create success. He is an absolute genius when it comes to business. He is also strong in the West and in Michigan, key battleground states. Of course, I believe that there exists unreleased information that will completely and totally destroy Obama's candidacy. I'm not worried about winning the General. This VP choice is huge because the person will be the next President after McCain.
Let the record reflect that these two paragraphs respectively represent 1. self pwnage and 2. future self pwnage
Sam, are you concerned about the potential bombshell of Michelle's video? Come on, it's not too difficult to imagine her saying that stuff. At least admit that much.
I don't agree with Da1's stance, but I think he is trying to emphasize how crazy Punjabi people are about their culture. Most don't even call themselves Indian. I support anyone's freedom of religion, but something doesn't seem right about Jindal's conversion. It wouldn't affect my voting choice(I would never vote for him because of his stances and policies), but I don't believe for a minute that he converted because of some call to spirituality. As a result, I respect him less than I would. I dock any politicians who similarly don't seem genuine. Besides that, the guy seems to be a genius. Rhodes Scholar, turned down admission to Harvard Med/Yale Law, Mckinsey alum.
In order of importance (not saying it's right but more or less it's the way it is). 1. Caste 2. Religion 3. Ancestral village 4. City 5. State (Punjab) . . . . . . 6. Country
I think you got it all wrong. People don't care about caste as much as you think. Heres the reality: 1. Family 2. Occupation 3. Manners and Behavior 4. Region 5. Everything else I don't know if you are indian or not, but if you are I wonder why you have such a negative view of Indian culture.
