bjax is a good fit because of so many years under adelman's system in sacramento. as a PG he also was the floor general of today's rockets game and he was making the rockets run classic adelman offense as it was intended and it was a thing of beauty...
Man I really liked how Bobby Jackson played tonight!! He's a high energy player who is not scared to take it to the hoop. Seems like the rockets lack high energy plays so I'm greatful how we got Jackson. I hated the trade at first until i remembered what he could do. I thought he'd he an old washed up scrub but he still has it in him!!! I think with Jackson playing we'll definately beat teams by a bigger margin!!! I believe this trade will definately improve the rockets for sure even though I've only watched one game. Go Rockets!!!! I think I'm re-pumped this season.
It's not that hate B-Jax, I thought he was a bit long in the tooth and a bit overpriced (traded for Bonzi), but he might be more effective for our team. He actually fills out our roster and is what Francis and James should've been....and great attacker -- strong defensively --- good passer and instant offense. He is not going to start he just gives the team more of an opportunity not to overuse Rafer.
Quotes from the Rockets on Jackson after his first game: Shane: [rquoter]"The timing for (acquiring) Bobby Jackson couldn't be better," Shane Battier said. "He showed us how to run the corner offense. Especially when a team is pressuring you, he made so many backcuts. For me, I've been running the offense all year, but to watch him run it, it was 'Oh, yeah, that's how you're supposed to do it.' The timing was impeccable for him to come in tonight against a team that pressures."[/rquoter] Adelman: [rquoter] "That's what I told him when I talked to him (on Saturday)," said Rockets coach Rick Adelman, who coached Jackson for five seasons in Sacramento. "He asked me what his role was going to be. I said, 'What you did in Sacramento.' He brings energy to the game and focus. I thought he did really that. He made his shots, but he attacked the basket. The cuts he made opened it up for everybody else." [/rquoter] McGrady: [rquoter] "Nothing, I wanted to fight him like I did in Orlando," quipped McGrady, who was in a brawl with Jackson during his Orlando days. "No, he brings experience and toughness and adds another shooter." [/rquoter]
If there was any player in the league that was like Vernon Maxwell or even Terry Porter...I would say it would be Bobby Jackson.
Great!HOUSTON IS LOOKING FOR TEACHERS FOR THE YOUNG PLAYERS!! Tmac is the teacher for Green and head Mutombo is the teacher of Landry,Hayes BJ and Alston are the teachers for Brooks and head Brent barry is the teacher for steve novak Yao and scola are helping each other! what a great team!
http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid823433113/bctid1431454730 Check out what Feigen has to say. Jackson not only brings his skills as a player, he could be a valuable asset in helping the other Rockets master Adelman's system. It's interesting that Barry said it would take two years to master the system and Jackson gave the exact same number. The Rockets could really hit their stride next season and the season after that.
Make no mistake - the trade was to get rid of James' contract and lower the salary below the LT. And while that cost us Bonzi, I believe that Morey made the best of it and picked up a player we can really use in our rotation to make our weakest backup position stronger.
Jackson won't keep up the red hot shooting but this comment by Shane really makes me feel good about the trade. I've been concerned that our offense would completely break down and revert back to Yao/Tracy and the midgets when teams played hard defense. Jackson's presence will influence the other players and make our execution more robust and durable. We shouldn't be resorting to the predictable "All Yao all the time" mode the last 6 minutes of tight games where everything goes stagnant. He can also get jittery Luther's minutes when games are on the line. This trade could also give new life to the winning streak. Winning streaks usually end when teams go stale and play disinterested. I don't expect us to go stale for quite some time now. Oh, and thanks for the "rquoter" lesson. Didn't know about that before.
Guys, stop with the "Start Bobby Jackson" stuff. The guy is terrific off the bench. He is like Vinnie Johnson (The Microwave!) was for those Bad Boys teams.
Babye Bonzi.... I've said it once, and I'll say it again now... BJ > Bonzi, MJ, KS, Luther, Brooks He is a cold blooded big timer sniper who will rip out the opposing teams heart, just like he did last night vs. Chicago. He's been doing it his whole career and he will do it this year and help us get over the hump to bring Clutch City back. IMO there are only like 5 or 6 teams that could possibly beat us in a 7 game series; DET, LA, BOS, SAS, UTA, and maaaaaybe DAL. I would give anything to see Tmac in the finals...
Although I did not express it, I wasn't sure how much game Bobby had left. I did express that I was concerned about losing the unique strengths of Bonzi. It appears you were very very much more correct. Thank you. And Thank You Morey... Again.
This was a good way for him to start his Rockets career. Now be honest - did any of you REALLY feel comfortable going into the playoffs with only Head and Brooks (and James I guess) to back up Rafer? You could make a case that an injury to Rafer would have been just as devastating to the team's chances as an injury to Yao or TMac. Our offense was always a thing of ugliness whenever Rafer was getting rest on the bench. Brooks is going to be fine, in another year and a half or so. Head is never going to be an NBA pg, and that's fine as long as we don't have to force him to play at that position. But the thing which made me happiest last night was how the offense barely fell off in its creamy smoothness when BJ was manning the point in spelling Alston. He knew what to do and where to be, and he knew when to take the shots, and he MADE them.. *shiver* All the pressure is off of Brooks now, so he can relax and just concentrate on learning and getting stronger and better. Head can just focus on being a sharpshooter, no longer having to worry about trying to squeeze out a few agonizing pg minutes while Rafer gets a breather. Wow. Me likee.
