I think it will do the opposite. Rafer seems to play better when he knows that his job is on the line.
??? Rafer best play for the Rockets has been this season after Francis and James proved themselves unworthy. Alston sucked worse than usual when James was still getting PT. This is probably more a result of new coach/scheme, but I don't recall a time where Alston had competition and played well (well is relative to his average play). I've only payed attention to Alston since he has been a Rocket, so he may have demonstrated this in another uniform.

Give the kid a break man. He's a Rocket now and lets at least give him a chance before you write him off. This is the comment you should have quoted. This is what you want to hear from a young kid like Green:
I think Bobby will quickly become a fan favorite. The crowd seems very receptive to him playing well.
I don't think there is anything to worry about with Rafer, it seems that Rafer and Bobby will be finishing games together.
