Bringing Boban back is a waste of a roster spot. It was last year when we could've kept Theo Maledon but waived him for some reason, and it is this year with the KPJ situation and needing to find a solution to backfill his role.
Bringing Boban back is a pure Tillman move. He knows Boban, sadly, has a higher q rating than the entire Rockets organization.
I hope not unless its in some kind of coaching role. They dont play him unless its a blowout. Even when Landale was the only other healthy Center. Waste of a roster spot that could go to a younger player with upside.
I was in your camp. Then I asked myself...when was the last time someone young with upside developed into a star or even starter from the 15th roster spot...
Players who have gone late second round or even undrafted have become valuable players. But thats really besides the point. Even if the spot doesnt go to a young player with upside it could at least go to a player youre willing to put in games when other players at his position are hurt. Regarding young players, its not about the "15th" player, but rather about being able to keep one more young upside player in your system to see how they develop.
Fred VanVlett wasn’t even drafted and made the team after an invite to play on a summer league team. He was the 15th man on the team. I’m sure there are others.
I don't know why they would bring him back if they can't find any role for him, and I'm similarly not sure why they can't find a role for him either. He should be able to get a couple of defensive minutes almost any night if nothing else. The dude isn't worthless.
They have THREE two-way spots for developmental prospects. They also already have six developmental prospects that need minutes (Green, Jabari, Sengun, Amen, Cam, Tari). 1. Fred 2. Ja.Green 3. Brooks 4. Jabari 5. Sengun 6. Amen 7. Cam 8. Tari 9. Adams 10. Je.Green 11. Landale 12. Tate 13. 3rd pick 14. 44th pick (we’ll see if they keep it or draft stash) 15. — (1)2-way. — (2)2-way. — (3)2-way. — Free: Aaron Holiday, Reggie Bullock, Boban Marjanovic, Nate Hinton(2W RFA), Jermaine Samuels(2W RFA), Nate Williams(2W RFA)
Yea, there's definitely been 15th men who became starters. I don't think he's back if the roster stands roughly the same, plus adding 2 rookies, and they see another backup level player available for league minimum (like Aaron Holiday). But, I could see Boban coming back if there was a trade that thinned the roster out some before the season starts.
