few questions regarding Osweiler (don't know much about him):

    1) Do we want him? Is he a long term solution at QB? Upside is similar to ___________.
    2) Why would he sign with the Texans over the SB Champion Broncos, a team he's been with his whole career? What are the chances he'd even sign with the Texans?
    3) How much of a money gap is there...can the Texans offer more than the Broncos?

Seems highly unlikely to me... I'd rather Drew Brees on a 2 year contract and draft a QB

If the staff believes in him, I'll trust them as long it doesn't prevent them from drafting someone as well. Upside? No idea really. I don't think he has "elite" upside.

Money. Broncos are not in a favorable cap situation.

Depends on how much the Broncos want to give up in order to have the money to sign him. Also depends on how much the Texans actually want to spend.

    Brees isn't available.

    1) I'd say he has high upside, though it's dicey that he'll ever reach that level. He was underwhelming during his stint with Denver this season. Seems like Joe Flacco is a decent comparison?

    2) Ideally he should stay in Denver, but they don't have a ton of cap space.

    3) Texans have ~40 mil in cap space. Broncos only have ~8 mil. If the Texans want, they could definitely throw a significant deal at him to try to steal him, but it would be very risky given his production thus far. You'd be banking on him significantly improving.

I'd say Flacco is a good ceiling comparison for him.

Yes, the Broncos are not in as good a position as we are for him. I didn't realize there were that many QBs getting paid that much in the league. Throw $18 million at him and see if it sticks. Draft Hackenberg in the third. If Osweiler fails, hopefully one of the other two works out.

Problem is, his stats when he started were fairly underwhelming, so I'd be nervous to offer that much.

I wonder if the Texans are playing a high-stakes game of... chicken (?) - by "pursuing" Osweiler - is it possible they're actually just trying to drive up Denver's cost so that Malik Jackson is even harder for them to resign?...

If I'm picking a Bronco free agent to pursue, it's Jackson >>>>>>>>> Osweiler.

Well the Broncos are in a REALLY tough spot. They know they won a Super Bowl with a mediocre QB last year, they think they can do it again.......

However the Texans owner, GM and coach all are motivated to get a QB after years of not having a QB, and seeing what a team with a dominant defense can do.

I am sure Smith and probably BOB both are telling the owner that the Texans can go far with a QB like Osweiler, and I wouldn't be shocked to see McNair over pay, as he wants to win.

Most likely case is that the Broncos retain Osweiler, but it isn't going to be 3/45, teams will beat that, especially on a short term deal.

If the Texans have the cap space or can make it, I could see a short 2-3 year deal for a lot more than the $15,000,000 offered by the Broncos..... even 3 years for $54,000,000 and then draft a QB. It doesn't long term cripple the Texans and it may but Smith and BOB more time.

just dont understand them.. there willing to pay osweiler this much money, but were unwilling to pay Payton Manning/ or go after when he wanted to come here.. this organization is so weird. you cant pay a guy that much money after 7 starts- its just not a big enough sample size..

    1. Upside is similar to Drew Bledsoe.

    2. GUARANTEED Money. if he flops next season, he will never get a big contract. Why take $45,000,000 with probably $30,000,000 of it guaranteed if you can get $60,000,000 with $45,000,000 -$50,000,000 GUARANTEED from a team like Houston.

    3. Yes the Texans CAN offer more.
