Log Cabin Honors Inclusive Congressional Allies at DC Event

Five GOP Members of Congress Speak About Fairness for Gay & Lesbian Americans

(Washington, DC) – Log Cabin members from across America gathered in the nation’s capital Thursday night to honor inclusive GOP allies in Congress. Log Cabin recognized Senator Gordon Smith (R-OR), Congresswoman Mary Bono (R-CA), Congresswoman Deborah Pryce (R-OH), Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) and Congressman Christopher Shays (R-CT).

Congresswoman Deborah Pryce, chief Republican co-sponsor of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), which will come before a vote in the U.S. House this summer, said the bill “is going to pass.” She said, “To allow discrimination in the workplace is antithetical to what Republicans are as a Party.” ENDA would expand current law banning workplace discrimination to include sexual orientation...

those aren't real republicans, you haven't considered the possibility that they were embarrassed by having certain views, so they hid out in the place where people least expected them. Maybe over time they became less embarrassed and started trying to express their views within the group they were hiding out in, as their viewpoint became more socially acceptable. You need to look at these people on a case by case basis. Be reasonable.

So does anyone think the GOP is making inroads into the gay community with this? Maybe McCain is trying to get the gay vote!

The Log Cabin Republicans are patently gay; how could they be hiding that fact when it is a factor in their organization and public profile?

    Try to escape again... :D

well, they were gay, then hiding out in the organization where they would least get caught, and instead of getting caught like this guy, they decided to come out when the time was right, so they decided to come out within the organization they were hiding out in when the time was right. Its completely reasonable if you think it through. Just like this guy, they aren't republicans, they just decided to come out but stay in the group instead.

its just like people who blame the church for letting priests molest kids. They aren't real priests, just molestors who are hiding out in the last place you would find them. Stop blaming the organization and seperate the individuals that don't belong there.

But dammit, if you see a terrorist and he happens to be muslim....blame the religion because that must be the cause of it.

this is descending into idiocy. The LC Republicans were formed as a gay Republican organization to try and impact the party politics and to try and appeal to a wider array of voters.

They were not hiding at all.

I'm not sure what the rest of your rant is supposed to prove.

I think it is okay to blame the "organization" to the extent that they may promote or cover-up the undesirable behavior.

    Here's my first post:

This is at least as plausible an explanation as the one offered that the Republican Party is full of people who hate America. It is not offered as an explanation for every Republican crime or criminal... although krosfayah does lay the blame squarely at the feet of Republians-- every one of them!

The operative word being "try". And by the looks of it they have failed in their efforts. MISERABLY. Your point?
He has a family too, so he must really be trying hard to cover it up with a wife and kid. Hell that'll throw everyone off his scent.

Rationalize away, maybe you'll find something that sticks.
