Thinking of trying this show out.

    Any insight?

I'm a big fan of breaking bad, the walking dead, and game of thrones. This is more my kinda show I think, gangster types are always interesting.

Not sure what the plot or story line is, so just looking for anyone who has watched it to give me a yay or nay

It's great. It is full of Sopranos alumni (actors, directors, writers, etc).

Pretty good show. I enjoy it a lot. Season 2 was the best and worst for me.

Definitely watch it. I like this show more than Breaking Bad. Also check out Homeland.

Love homeland, didn't think the season was going to be as good as it turned out but it was a great show. Looking forward to season 2.

Boardwalk Empire is awesome. Definitely recommended.

I would suggest Deadwood first. Better characters and better acting. Worse t*tties

People who have seen it -- would you say it takes time to get going? I watched four or five episodes about a year ago, and it didn't grab me for whatever reason, even though I like Breaking Bad, Deadwood, Rome, Game of Thrones, that type of stuff. And FWIW, I've also watched three episodes of Mad Men and was mostly just bored with it.

Knowing all that, should I keep going with Boardwalk Empire?

Yeah, the whole season 1 is like back story and character backgrounds and some plot development...it's more about introducing the setting of the story. Season 2 is slow mixed in with impact moments. Season 3 has been more plot oriented, while the character development has less screen time, there are major breakthroughs sprinkled around.

Thanks, that's helpful info for me. I'll see if I can get back into it.

HBO is just awesome on series. Treme is pretty good too. The Wire was the best in my 41 yrs on this earth.
