Check out his stats in the summer league, he is tearing the opponents apart. He hustles, he rebounds, he blocks, and he passes. He can't shoot but he can do layups and dunks. He will be a perfect fit on Rocket's roster. We can sign him for the vet's minimum.
Damn, haven't we tried to trade for Chuck "Bo" Outlaw like 23 times, but F'ed it up every time?? Sure, why not?
I love Bo Outlaw, he has been one of my favorite players for some time now. His game reminds me of Otis Thorpes game a LITTLE bit. Just a big strong hustling forward that doesnt back down. No trash talk, just does the job and calls it the night...
A lot of NBA players play on various summer league teams, not necessarly in the NBA summer league. I guess it helps them stay in shape and keeps them out of trouble.
I would love to see us make room for Bo Outlaw. I'm not used to seeing a Rocket team without some kind of Houston connection.
yes, that would be a great signing, along with a point guard who could double as a shooting guard(Barry or Daniels).
Guys, Bo Outlaw does this in EVERY summer league. He ends up on the so-called NBA Pros team, which is usually him, Penny Hardaway (if healthy), and a bunch of washed-out scrubs. He's the focal point of the team and can easily clean up rebounds for garbage points and lay the ball in the hole on offense. It's nothing like you see in the real game, where he's reluctant to take a shot (because he can't hit from outside of 2-3 feet with any regularity), isn't a ball-handler, but can rebounder and block shots (even if he is only 6'8"). I don't think Phoenix wants to deal him, anyway, nor would Houston want to take on his contract.
Even when they put real NBA players on these teams, they don't play any defense. In reality, Outlaw brings nothing Eddie Griffin doesn't already give us, and everyone wants to get rid of Eddie. j
There is no way you can say EG is the defensive monster Outlaw is. Bo has been a defensive specialist from the pf spot for years now while EG has yet to average 6 boards a game.
I can't believe Orlando (no interior prescence) traded him for Jud Buechler. I mean, I know Outlaw's not a star but he's useful, they couldn't get more than that?
Thank you! I knew when I saw his first game where he went off for something like 38 pts, 10 rebs, and 8 assists people would go ape over him. I've liked the guy's game, but this isn't reality. And yes, he does this every summer. I think the fact he's so aggressive under the basket scares everybody else or something.
http://www.basketballreference.com/players/playerpage.htm?ilkid=OUTLABO01 Outlaw has only averaged more than 6 boards per game 3 times, and each season, he had more minutes per game than Eddie. All Outlaw is ever going to be is a defensive specialist. Griffin could be a full time player who plays great defense, and if he ever lives up to it, wouldn't you rather have that? J
They traded him because of his contract. They overpaid for him, wanted it off of their books for last season's offseason, and ended up getting Jud Buchler in return. Trust me, the Magic know they needed a player like Outlaw, and had they not been worried about the contract, could've gotten someone else. But salary cap flexibility is supreme, and that's why I've been posting in some threads about Rockets salary dumps - you aren't going to get better, much less comparable talent in a salary dump.
First, Donnymost, don't do one sign posts, especially when they are carrots. Bo would be a great pickup, but I don't think he is a free agent. If he is, he would be exactly what we need - a thug, banger, defensive type to help protect Yao, who we should be running the offense through next year. We need either a thug to protect Ming or a stopper a la Nate McMillan/Bruce Bowen/Mario Ellie that we could bring in off the bench to cool down a Kobe, Parker, Nash.
In no way am I suggesting we trade Eddie for Outlaw as I can see the potential Eddie has but there is no way Eddie brings as much to the table defensively at this point in their careers as Outlaw.
Plus Outlaw makes his teammates better. not in the way Kidd does of course. But he seems to pick up the intensity. And pick up the slack.
He isn't even rated high enough to be overrated dude, he was a second rounder, low salary, low minutes, bench player usually... how is he overrated?
