My buddies Dad once reamed Bo Outlaw and he didn't do **** about it. My friend was playing down at Fonde back when we were in high school, so his Dad went down there with him. There were a few NBA players hanging around and playing, then all of the sudden this one guy came in, his hands in the air, shaking his head around at all the people acting like he was God's gift to basketball. My friend's Dad was thinking it must've been Hakeem or somebody, but then he saw it was Bo Outlaw. Actually, he had no clue who this guy was, just that he was a scrub. That's when this 50+ year-old white dude from Katy told him to shut up and play, and reminded him that no one cares who he was. He did nothing but shut up. This story's much funnier if you knew my friend's Dad. He's the same guy who during a showing of The Age of Innocence, he got so fed up with the movie and the slow courting process, he stood up and yelled, "why don't you just **** her already" in the middle of a crowded theatre.
Bo Outlaw would be a nice addition to the team in my opinion. True we have a glut of PFs on the roster but Outlaw is an "energy" guy off the bench which is EXACTLY what we need. He is also more athletic than Spoon or really any of our PFs. He brings another dimension. To bad we can't just magically drop Spoon and replace him with Outlaw.
The Rockets should do whatever they can to get ahold of Bo. He is exactly what JVG likes in players, and he's a perfect fit for this team.
We have to think why Memphis waived him. Maybe he is no longer the kind of player that he was. I do agree he does fit the kind of PF that we need with defense, rebounding and energy. Outlaw didn't want to play for the Rockets in the past and allegedly wanted to stay with the Magic. I wonder how his relationship with T-Mac,Howard and Lue is like. I do recall him playing in T-Mac's baseball game though.
You guys are nuts. We do not need to sign every tweener on the downside of their career once they are released. Bo barely averages 20 mpg over the last 4 years pulling down less than 4.5 rpg over those 4 years. The guy is washed up and on the downside of a one dimentional career. Say No to Bo.
do we even have a roster spot for him? yao-deke mo-howard-spoon-pad jj-bowen-boki tmac-sura-gaines ward-lue-other guy thats 15. as much as i would love to get bo, bowen plays the same way except he is younger and faster. it will be annoying to see him become a huge pick up for some team, but thats the nba.
Gotta have a Cougar on the roster. If we could trade for Damon Jones and sign Outlaw it will be a very poorman's Clyde & Dream combo.
we don't need any more Cougars...we have Yao Ming. Although he never played for UH, he did commit. Check under Friday, October 30, 1998 http://www.hoopscooponline.com/members/hot-october98.html that would have been a pretty solid frontline.
Maybe it is just me, but "other guy" seems to be the obvious one to sweat out this potential roster addition.
Bo Outlaw? hmm.....well the Rockets signed Charles Oakley late in the season last year....so unless Juwan Howard starts rebounding, Jeff Van Gundy might start looking at rebounding stat sheet. Speaking of rebounding, and power forward needs, what the latest with Malick Badiane? Any sign of improvement with Malick in Germany? Dikembe Mutombo played great against Memphis-yes. How long can he cotinue to do so? The Rockets need a young stud who can play and block shots like Andrei Kirilenko. Wouldn't Malick Badiane be excited to play with Tracy McGrady? I heard he would love to play with Dirk Nowitski. Do the Rockets still have the rights to MALICK BADIANE?
I wish JVG would sub our 4s just about every dead ball-- give all four of 'em "mini tryouts." Bring 'em in with fresh legs, see what kind of inner beast they show. If one is really performing, then, sure, leave him in a bit longer. Spoon and Padgett do show smarts and skills when they're in there.
I'd pick up both Bell and Outlaw, and cut Spoon and Gaines. All our 4s are soft. Outlaw has tensile strength and intestinal fortitude. Bell can make plays. He might be better than Ward and Lue.
