Class is overrated when you're 1-10, quite frankly. Besides, Bly was clear venting some frustrations because his coach was fired. This isn't like TO, who makes such comments simply after losses. If TO had blasted McNabb(for the first and only time) after the Eagles fired Andy Reid, the media wouldn't be so hard on him either.
One of the big complaints out in detroit is how bad their offensive line has been. Kevin Jones is a stud running back and he can't even get anything going out there. Good Point. Detroit does have a trio of good receivers. The west coast offense is set up for a more mobile quarterback, Steve Young/Jeff Garcia type. This is not a favorable offense for Harrington, especially when they can't get their running game going. I seriously doubt that.
I think this is different because the catalyst of these guys speaking out isn't that they are tired of how much Harrington sucks, their coach just got fired and it wasn't all that fair considering the performance of Harrington.
wait, what??? no it's not. the west coast offense is short passes...quick hits...hot reads. the best west coast offense QB i've ever seen was joe montana...hardly mobile.
Einstein told us all things are relative so how do you know when your it's your quarterback that sucks or your offensive line or your wide receivers? It is said that WR take longer to learn their position in the NFL and from the half I saw on Thanksgiving Harrington was making the passes when he had time but his receivers were dropping them. Same thing with Carr, if he played behind the KC OL would he look like Trent Green? I sorta think he would. Anyway calling out a teamate in the media is just an immature way to deal with frustration but who expects 25 year old papmered athletes to be mature. Harrington needs to punch him out, that the only way to settle it!
How come they've fired 2 coaches but the idiot GM Matt Millen gets to stay on? He has last say on draft picks, he's the moron.
Detroit hasn't had a decent or good oline in a long time. Don't know where you got that from. Yeah let's look at those 3 studs that Joey has to work with. Charles Rogers was there for less than a third of his rookie season, then he gets hurt. He gets hurt his second year. His third he gets a suspension for drugs and is going through the motions now because he's upset that he's not the "franchise" anymore. Then you have Mike Williams, a rookie wr that really can't be counted on for much at this point. And then Roy Williams. The only legit wr on the team at this point and guess what? He has his stats when he's healthy. But he's no Andre Johnson. Can't really argue that. Capers sucks. But one of the things that has bugged me about Mooch is his propensity to abandon the run too early. He wasn't that way in SF, that's for sure. There is no way you can establish that as a valid assumption. They've both had their chances to shine, and other than Carr's 1st half of last season, neither have done much with it. I do think Carr is better than Joey, but he hasn't done much to show it.
I don't agree with what Bly did, but comparing this to TO is quite the stretch. McNabb is a great QB and led the Eagles to the NFC Championship game 4 or 5 years in a row. TO knifed him in the back after the game. For that matter, TO has knifed other people before and clearly has some emotional problems. He's proven to be about as big a jerk as one can be in the NFL. While Bly's statement was absolute truth IMO, he's still wrong for saying it to the media. But comparing him to TO? Gimme a break. How many times has he publicly acted out (on the sidelines or with the media) with Harrington before yesterday? Zero. Can't say the same for TO, who never has been able to shut it up about anybody.
I think the Lions should demand Dre appologize to Harrington and if he doesn't then suspend him for 1 game. He doesn't deserve 4 like TO because this is the only thing he did unlike TO. They need to send a message that dissing a teammate publically is unacceptable even if it is true.
Detroit has some semblance of a running game which is going to make your QB look better. Carr has 5 touch downs scored on the ground. (one of which was his) I think calling Carr out for this season is a huge mistake, is what I was getting at. I agree with Dubious, how can you tell what Carr is capable of at this point?
