They need to bring back Good Heavens. It was Homemade Vanilla, Dutch Chocolate, with sugar cookie dough and cc cookie dough. mmm

Pralines n Cream and Cookies n Cream are the best that they still produce.

I actually haven't seen the blackberry clobber in anything but pint size. I've seen this flavor at several local convenience stores though.

Ok in all fairness to the guy who keeps saying that HEB's store brand 'blows away Blue Bell', I actually decided we would do our weekly grocery shopping at HEB this weekend, and we picked up a couple of pints, I got Butter Pecan, and the wife grabbed the regular chocolate.

Verdict: While I would definitely have to say that this is the best 'store brand' ice cream I have tried, the idea that it 'blows away Blue Bell' is a little much. I'll just say that, if you are a Blue Bell fan, and you were at someone's house, and they said 'Hey, you want some ice cream?' And you said 'Is it Blue Bell?' and they lied and said 'Uhh, yeah, yeah, it's Blue Bell.' but it was really the HEB brand, and you ate it, and it was Butter Pecan (since that is the only one I tried), you MIGHT not immediately notice that it was not Blue Bell and freak out about having your trust betrayed like that.

    And it's slightly cheaper.

So, if you are jonesing for some ice cream, you could do a heck of a lot worse than the HEB.

actually I thought HEB store brand was very good. Not BB level but was still the best store brand I've tasted and maybe better then some of the name brands out there like Breyers.

Man, can't believe it took that long to mention Vanilla Bean! Vanilla bean is better than homemade vanilla by itself, but I still prefer the homemade vanilla on pie.

If I'm rockin' the stop-n-rob pint, I always go cookies 'n cream, always.

I gotta try that cobbler flavor, stat. Do they sell it in pints?

I got ice cream for probably the 2nd or 3rd time in the past 5 years today, and based upon what some people commented, I got Blue Bell's Southern Blackberry Cobbler. It was pretty good, but alas, Chocolate or Vanilla Moollenium Crunch is still better. :D

BUMP!!! I'm on business/vacation so I got to try some things I never had before.

So I'm in Orlando and I got to try Blue Bell ice cream for the first time ever since they sold it at the local Albertsons. My original instincts were right all along Blue Bell is mediocre and Haagen Dazs is far superior. I tried the "Moolenium Crunch".

Pros: lots of toppings, cheap $2.49 for a pint

Cons: thin, melts easily, tastes like most other ice cream

Overall feeling? I felt like I got what I paid for. $2.49 for some mediocre ice cream.

On another note, I also got to try some Chick-Fil-A and Steak and Shake so far on this trip. Chick-Fil-A has some nice service and the crinkle cut fries were really good. The char-grilled chicken sandwich was bland and too healthy tasting. The chicken tenders were greasy and uncrispy. Overall the price is a bit spendy for what it is.

Steak and Shake reminds me of a Wendys with more options and a waitress. Fast food in a diner type setting. Burger tasted just like Wendy's. It was kinda small but decent nontheless. Fries were thin, crispy and hot just the way I like them. Tried the Grape Kool Aid milkshake. This was too cool to not try. Tasted just like it sounded... grape koolaid and vanilla ice cream... had a couple sips and couldn't take it anymore.

    chocolate fudge brownie
    chocolate chip cookie dough
    cinnamon oatmeal cookie rules
    smores

I could go on and on, the quality is second to none for store bought ice cream IMO

Oatmeal Cookie Chunk is totally t***.

I just had Mission to Marzipan tonight, it is killer too.

I swear, if I move anywhere near Vermont, I'm going to gain 200lbs.

I'm easy to please, and it's always been plain 'ole Rocky Road for me.
