Don't confuse Bluebell with Mayfield, Bryers, or even Edy's. Bluebell is the best. I would get it every time if it didn't cost more.

Yeah, the high-end ice creams like Haagen Dazs and Ben & Jerry, etc, are better ice creams. But, if you compare Blue Bell to the other ice creams in its class, the Breyers and Dreyers of the world, Blue Bell is an uncommonly good ice cream. Ice cream is a staple item in my house; I always have some in the freezer. Haagen-dazs is a nice occassional luxury; Blue Bell is a good, everyday, feed-the-neighborhood-kids, ice cream. The two products don't have the same function.

3 pages with the majority of people raving about Blue Bell ice cream and so I thought I was missing something since I never tried Blue Bell. According to your description I'm not missing much. Haagen-dazs truly is the best stuff evarrrrr.

When ice cream melts, it is supposed to be 'thin'. That is a sign of being real.. as opposed to the stuff that turns into a chemical 'foam' when it melts, because the mfr just pumped a zillion bubbles into it before freezing it, in order to maximize volume and reduce costs.

You guys out there talking down on Blue Bell, well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but sheesh.. it's all subjective anyway. Fact is, especially in Texas, opinion is overwhelming in favor of Blue Bell. And it ain't because it's bad.. ;) But that doesn't mean there are not other good brands out there.

It's like that chocolate debate, everyone has their favorites, everyone's tastes are different. It's ok.

Sorry for the double post, but I just had to say something. You're gonna pick out the one comment out of THREE PAGES that says Blue Bell isn't that great, and quote that one? I'm sorry, but you ARE missing something by not trying Blue Bell. It beats the CRAP out of all those mainstream brands that are mass produced. They inject air, and add artificial chemicals to their stuff to make more volume, and melt in different consistencies.......Blue Bell is 100% natural, and you can taste it. It's the best stuff evarrrrrrr.

Its the best store bought ice cream I've ever had. If you like Cookie Dough, you should try BlueBell, because it is so much better then other store bought brands. It is the flavor that BlueBell has the biggest gap in if you ask me.

If you've got the money to confine your ice cream consumption to Haagen Dazs, knock yourself out.

Money yes. Caloric and fat intake not so much. If I lived in Texas I'd be more than happy to give "Blue Bell" a shot.

All this Ice cream talk is makin me crave some Haagen Dazs as we speak. Their Rum Raisen is divine. Green tea is amazing and they make the best butter pecan. Oh and the vanilla bars with the chocolate and almond shell is to die for.

Triple chocolate is also my favorite. I was talking to my Blue Bell vendor a year ago and it turns out its not available year round. And only at a few places. I found some last year at Kliens supermarket in Tomball.
