Yessir... I like that... Especially If we get Rudy, who would be far better than Ariza for us anyway... We could have the first bid for Travis next year, which could be decent... Aaron Brooks Rudy Fernandez Chase Budinger Carl Landry Yao Ming How much fun would that team be?!?!?!?
I know one PG who would fit perfectly on the Blazers, and he's from Portland as well! = Aaron Brooks Hopefully that will never happen.
I would not touch Outlaw. He completely disappeared in the playoffs which was one of the big reasons Rockets beat Trailblazers last year.
But as I recall, he played well against us during the regular season. And remember Ariza's playoff performance against us. One series does not make a career. We are so desperate for length and athleticism, I can't help but believe that Outlaw would be a perfect fit. But that's irrelevant anyway, they are not going to trade him; he is one of the few players they have that can walk.
It's pointless to get Outlaw. He's another guy who can't create his own offense efficiently but rather need to live off of shots and spaces created by a star player. Stick him in Ariza's place and he'll put up Ariza's offensive numbers, at best. His career TS% is also terrible, under .500 for most of his career. Ariza has issues, I wouldn't mind the Rockets getting someone more efficient to take his shots, but to say that Travis friggin Outlaw is that guy is just wrong.
I'm not sure what this means. In the end, even the Garnett trade will hurt the Celtics in the long run, considering they gave up a young very, very good player. You have to make tough moves and give up assets to get the pieces for a championship team, and Artest would have been that piece. Pity it didn't work out, but there was just no luck for us that year. And trading Ariza for Miller from my perspective is the ultimate "ARIZA SUX HURR" move. It is not a long term move in the slightest, given Miller's old and won't work well with Yao at all, and the Rockets need to think long term. Be an utterly r****ded move.
Miller is a strange guy. I am also a very private person and don't associate with co-workers outside of the job, but he takes it to another level. Nothing wrong with that, but just saying. In Portland, the media and fans like to learn everything they possibly can about players off the court because they are almost considered family. The Blazers players also hang out quite a bit off the court. Miller would have NONE of either and made that known to everyone. Culture-wise, Portland was the worst team/city he could have chosen. With 4 seconds left in the game on Tuesday, the Blazers trailed by 2 points against the Grizzlies with Jerryd Bayless at the FT line. He missed the first one. The coaching staff and Roy told Bayless to miss the 2nd FT so the Blazers could try to get the rebound. Andre Miller told Bayless to make the FT. He did and the Blazers ended up losing by 4. I don't know if it was insubordination or stupidity that led Miller to do that. I wonder if that's why things exploded. Out of anger, McMillan may have rode Miller pretty hard in practice and Miller snapped back at him.
I'm not condoning the behavior and it isn't an excuse but Miller might have chosen to take matters into his own hands and get himself traded. David Aldridge reported a few weeks back that Andre Miller was offered for Shane. Granted, we would have a slew of PGs if it had happened, and Shane is more of a leader, obviously, than is Andre Miller, but he'd be a heck of a point guard for our uptempo game.
If the idea were to add Outlaw to a deal (which I'm not saying is going to happen) so that we'd have an expiring contract....not so pointless.
